Club World Cup Matchday 5 Best Captains

If you aren’t sure which players to captain this week, then you are in the right place! We take a look at the Club World Cup Matchday 5 Fantasy best captains, whilst also highlighting differential alternatives.

Captaincy is absolutely crucial for the success of most fantasy managers, so making sure we get it right could be hugely influential on final rank and mini-league position, so let’s get to it!

Fluminense v Al-Hilal

The opening match of the round Matchday 5 begins with a clash between Al-Hilal v Fluminense. There is no telling which way it could go, but Fluminense scoring seems one of the most likely scenarios based on the Saudi sides ropey defensive numbers.

With that being said, the standout captaincy option in the game could be Fluminense set-piece taker Jhon Arias (€6.2m). The in-game midfielder has been talismanic for the Brazilian side, so could be the best of the bunch.

Some could also back Fluminense defender Juan Pablo Freytes (€4.1m), Al-Hilal striker Marcos Leonardo (€4m) or Al-Hilal defender Renan Lodi (€4.6m).

Chelsea v Palmeiras

Whilst Palmeiras have impressed thus far, Chelsea have scored a huge 10 goals already, which indicates backing them from an attacking perspective could be wise move. With that in mind, in-game midfielder Pedro Neto (€6.5m) could have success. The winger has been in exceptional form this summer – netting in three of his Club World Cup matches.

There are plenty of other routes into the Chelsea attack. Another of them is penalty taker Cole Palmer (€9.6m) who managed two assists in his previous game. For those looking for multiple routes to points, a way into both the defence and attack then both Marc Cucurella (€5.8m) and set piece taker Reece James (€5.8m) fit the bill.

PSG v Bayern

There is no telling how the game between European giants Bayern and PSG is going to go. However, based on their recent Champions League win, defensive form and attacking success, backing the French side appears to be a better strategy.

If backing PSG, then full-back Achraf Hakimi (€6.5m) has the most potential based on his recent matches. The Moroccan scored and kept a clean sheet in both of his previous two matches, which saw him rack up a whopping 28 points.

Outside of Hakimi, there are lots of great options to give the armband to. Of them include PSG standout midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€9.2m), Bayern midfielder Michael Olise (€9.4m) and Bayern striker Harry Kane (€11m).

Dortmund v Real Madrid

The same could be said between Dortmund v Real Madrid, it’s a tight game to call, but bookies have Real Madrid edging it. Los Blancos have been mixed in terms of performances, but they are a side who regularly thrive in the latter stages of a competition.

Because of this, and doubt around Kylian Mbappe’ overall match fitness, Brazilian Vinicius Junior (€11m) could be the best selection for captaincy. Junior has been hit and miss, but his goal and assist in Matchday 3 is a good example of his potential.

It would be very wise to also consider Serhou Guirassy (€9m). Whilst Real Madrid are favourites, Guirassy has had more big chances than any other player in the competition. His recent brace in Matchday 4 was yet another display of his big-game success rate.
