Which recent transfers and gossip will interest FPL managers?

We catch up with some recently completed transfers (as of June 26th) and general gossip, asking which could make an impact on the FPL scene.

Following the media’s many transfer rumours can be tiresome. The majority either fall through or have been tactically planted by one of the parties involved. Yet those that do come to fruition can have a huge effect on a range of Fantasy games.

Here are a few of the more interesting rumours and completed deals from the last few days, using reputable sources.

LATEST FPL TRANSFERS AND GOSSIP

DONE DEALS:

  • Diego Coppola (Verona to Brighton, £9m)
  • Florian Wirtz (Leverkusen to Liverpool, £100m)
  • Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth to Liverpool, £40m)
  • Fer Lopez (Celta to Wolves, £19m)
  • Jaka Bijol (Udinese to Leeds, £15m)
  • Walter Benitez (PSV Eindhoven to Crystal Palace, free)

While the transfer window has reopened after its very brief closing, there’s a slight lull as the end-of-June accounting deadline affects PSR situations.

At least Liverpool’s long-awaited moves for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have been completed. Over on Fantasy Football Scout, there’s speculation on how Arne Slot intends to evolve his system for both these and Jeremie Frimpong.

Elsewhere, Wolves had added their first post-Cunha attacker. New addition Fer Lopez needs to have a ‘Jenny’ nickname, doesn’t he? Either way, it’s quite a large fee considering the 21-year-old has only just had his first proper season, containing just seven times and 10 cameos.

At least he gets to play with friend Jorgen Strand Larsen. They didn’t really play together at Celta, but the pair have just been holidaying in Greece.

Brighton’s next transfer masterpiece is young Italian international Diego Coppola, arriving for a relatively low price. Another centre-back leaving Serie A is Leeds signing Jaka Bijol, while goalkeeper Walter Benitez is likely just a back-up for Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson.

RUMOURED:

  • Anthony Elanga (Nott’m Forest to Newcastle)
  • James Trafford (Burnley to Newcastle)
  • Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford to Man United or Tottenham)
  • Jamie Gittens (Dortmund to Chelsea)
  • Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester to Everton or Man United)
  • Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace to Liverpool)
  • Ousmane Diomande (Sporting CP to Crystal Palace)
  • Marcin Bulka (Nice to Sunderland)
  • Timothy Weah (Juventus to Nott’m Forest)

Liverpool’s third trade with Leverkusen will likely see some defensive dominoes start to fall. By allowing Jarell Quansah to depart, the champions could respond by splashing out on Marc Guehi, someone entering the final year of his current contract.

Expect such rumours to intensify now that various sources believe Palace are on the verge of a club-record £40 million deal for much-admired Ivorian centre-back Ousmane Diomande. It’s an ambitious target, albeit one that probably needs Guehi to go.

Up at Newcastle, interest is finally being stepped up in their main targets. A £45 million Anthony Elanga bid has reportedly been rejected, while an offer for James Trafford is on the table. Talks are advancing over João Pedro, too.

Nottingham Forest could replace Elanga with Juventus wingers Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula for a combined £20 million.

We’re also seeing the Bryan Mbeumo and Jamie Gittens transfer sagas continue, as 28-year-old Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi allegedly has a £9 million relegation clause that can be activated. That’s caught the attention of both Everton and Man United.
