Urawa Red Diamonds qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2022 AFC Champions League. They defeated Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia over two legs – drawing 1–1 away in the first match and then winning 1–0 at home to take the title 2–1 on aggregate.
That victory gave Urawa their third AFC Champions League trophy, having previously won it in 2007 and 2017. Their success earned them one of Asia’s four spots in the expanded 32-team Club World Cup.

Urawa Red Diamonds are significant underdogs heading into the competition, but if still keen on their backline then full-backs Takuya Ogiwara (€4m) and Hirokazu Ishihara (€4m) are the cheapest routes into the defence. The latter has also managed two assists and a goal in his previous five league games.
There has been some rotation between the full-backs this season, so the safe option in terms of expected gametime would be centre-back Danilo Boza (€4.2m).
In attack the options are less than convincing, but one player who stands out is corner and free kick taker Matheus Sávio (€5.4m). From midfield the Brazilian has produced two goals and six assist this season.
