Club World Cup Fantasy 2025: Seattle Sounders Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview

Club World Fantasy 2025 is here! Continuing with our team previews, we take a look at the Seattle Sounders best picks, predicted line-up and team overview.

Knowing how a team could line-up and their best assets could be absolutely key for success in Club World Cup Fantasy. Helping us today is MLS fan @dmpwright who has provided us with his insight.

Team Overview

Seattle Sounders Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview

Seattle Sounders qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League. They beat Mexican side Pumas UNAM 5–2 on aggregate in the final, becoming the first MLS team to ever win the tournament under its current format. This also broke the long-standing dominance Mexican clubs had in the competition.

In terms of their current league positioning, Seattle Sounders sit fourth over in the Western Conference, it has been a fairly good start for the North American side. Recent form has been largely mixed though – winning three, losing two and drawing one of their previous six matches.

During that period Seattle Sounders netted eight goals, shipped nine goals and two clean sheets. They head into the Club World Cup off the back of some good but mostly inconsistent form, but could their Group and Fixtures bring stability?

Group and Fixtures

Seattle Sounders come up against: Paris Saint-Germain (FRA), Atlético de Madrid (ESP) and Botafogo (BRA) in Group B.

Their upcoming Club World Cup schedule looks like this:

  • Matchday 1 – Botafogo
  • Matchday 2 – Atleti
  • Matchday 3 – PSG

Seattle Sounders head into the tournament as complete underdogs. Their best chance of picking up three points appears to be against Botafogo in the opening round, but Botafogo are still favourites to win the game.

Atleti and European champions PSG are also heavy favourites against Seattle Sounders, so the American side have an uphill battle as soon as their fixtures start.

Top Picks

As with the other MLS sides, it remains to be seen how many clean sheets Seattle can keep at the CWC, particularly given their opponents in the group stage. That said, their defence is decent, ranking fifth best for xGA in MLS.

Stefan Frei (€4.8m) is their long-time number one, while Jackson Ragen (€4.5m) and Nouhou (€4.8m) are nailed on set-piece and creative threats, respectively, from defence.

The tournament might come too early for Seattle’s other starting centre-back, Yeimar (€4.5m), who went off injured against FC Dallas on 24 May, which potentially dents their defensive assets’ appeal.

In midfield, look no further than Albert Rusnák (€5.4m). If I could only take one Seattle player, he would be the one. The Slovak midfielder is on penalties and takes all set pieces, recording an impressive seven goals and three assists in MLS so far this season.

Pedro de la Vega (€5.5m) provides further creativity from the right wing. However, he doesn’t score many and often gets hooked early (and has bizarrely been classified as a forward in the game).

Upfront, the Sounders’ all-time leading goal scorer, Jordan Morris (€5.4m), is the go-to man. He should return from injury in time for the start of the tournament. Bear in mind he won’t have played since the start of May though. So, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jesús Ferreira (€6m) eat into his minutes.

There we have it, our Seattle Sounders Best Picks, Predicted Line-up and Team Overview. Will you be picking any of their players?
