Let’s discover who our expert has picked for each position, his favourite team picks, and who he is going to captain!
A Word on My Strategy
Before diving into the team, I want to briefly explain my approach this week. This is a differential-heavy squad – I’m going against the crowd and taking a few calculated risks.
Charlton defenders and Sheffield United assets like Cooper and Hamer will likely be highly owned, so I’ve built a team that fades them and instead goes all-in on three different sides.
At this stage of the playoffs, I believe you need to commit fully to the teams you think will win – back your gut and go for it!

Goalkeeper and Defence
In goal, I’ve gone for Simkin of Walsall, who I’m backing to win the League Two play-off final. The Walsall vs Wimbledon clash feels like a tight one, and backing either defence seems a solid call.
I’ve decided to go heavy on Walsall, bringing in both Williams and Okagbue alongside Simkin – giving me a full Walsall defensive triple-up.
Williams gets the armband this week. Walsall defenders have decent defensive action stats, so even if the clean sheet doesn’t come, there’s still good potential for points. The all-in strategy is key to my Gameweek – picking a side and backing them completely.
My final defender is Ahmedhodzic from Sheffield United. I still think the Blades take the Championship final, so I wanted coverage from their back line. Ahmedhodzic offers a threat from set pieces and tends to pick up bonus points, which made him an easy choice for me.
Midfield
Completing my Walsall triple-up, I’ve gone for Allen in midfield. He’s on penalties and has shown multiple routes to points throughout the season. It was between Allen and Jellis for this spot, but Allen’s set-piece duty swung it. If I change course and go for a third Walsall defender instead, this could shift – but for now, Allen stays.
Next up is Burrows from Sheffield United. While Hamer will be the popular pick, I prefer the lower-owned gamble. Burrows is also on penalties, and he contributes with interceptions and key passes. In a one-off final, I like his upside as a differential.
Forward
Up front, I’ve taken a rogue punt on Leyton Orient’s Agyei. Since I’m backing against the Charlton defence, it makes sense to go with an Orient attacker. Kelman will be the obvious pick, but I want to stray from the template a bit, and Agyei is my current choice. Donley is still in the mix, and this may come down to seeing Orient’s confirmed XI before the deadline.
Team Picks
To summarise: I’m backing the teams I believe will win – Sheffield United in the Championship final (my strongest conviction), Walsall in League Two, and Leyton Orient to edge it in their clash with Charlton. Now that you’ve seen my picks, the reasoning behind them should be clear. Let’s go for it!
