Best Captains for UCL Fantasy Matchday 14

Last modified date

Confusion around captaincy is a common thing in fantasy football, and many are unsure who to give the armband. Here, we take a look at the options and pick out the best captains for UCL Fantasy Matchday 14.

This week UCL Fantasy managers can captain a player on Tuesday, then change on Wednesday if they aren’t happy. Let’s take a look at the options.

Captaincy may take some thought on Tuesday. Barcelona may edge PSG in terms of attack, but the Catalans have a 4-0 advantage, so even if their best assets start, they could have their minutes managed, especially as they are currently contending for a domestic league title.

Because of this, and the fact PSG already wrapped up their domestic league title, their best players are more likely to play more minutes. For that reason, and his relentless overall form this season, PSG midfielder Ousmane Dembele (€8.5m) may just get the edge. This year alone the Frenchman has produced a huge 24 goals and three assists, so goes into the game in top form.

We can’t really categorise Barcelona’ main attacking threats as differential options. The Catalans may have a 4-0 lead but UCL Fantasy managers will have access to the line-up before the game, so if the likes of midfielder Raphinha (€7.8m) and Robert Lewandowski (€9.6m) start, then they too could be fantastic captaincy options. Both have proven to be two of the most consistent assets in the game this season, so have become very reliable picks for the captaincy armband.

Tuesday Differentials

There are plenty of differentials you could opt for on Tuesday. Barcelona play the shaky Dortmund backline which is likely to mean we see plenty of goals. Surely involved in the goals, but less popular than Raphinha and Lewandowski is Lamine Yamal (€7.3m). The 17-year-old heads into the game after netting back-to-back goals in his last two Champions League matches.

You cant rule out Dortmund. Although hugely lacking last time out they play at home this week, Barcelona have far from convinced from a defensive perspective, and striker Serhou Guirassy (€8.2m) has amassed an impressive 10 goals and four assists in the Champions League already.

Some could even look back among the PSG attackers. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€7.5m) is an alternative for the armband. The Georgian registered a goal and the player of the match award in the first leg.

Wednesday 16th April

Real Madrid will be desperate to turn things around in their tie against Arsenal. Los Blancos are 3-0 down to the Gooners, so they have their work cut out if they want to advance. However, a home match could be just what they need to get off the mark, and they’ll be raring to go.

The above makes captaining a Real Madrid attacker extremely appealing on Wednesday, and their standout is striker Kylian Mbappe (€11.1m). Although sharing penalty duty with Vinicius Junior, he has contributed to a huge 33 goals across both the Champions League and La Liga this season.

Wednesday Differentials

Real Madrid may be favourites to win the game, but that doesn’t mean that Real Madrid won’t concede or leave space in behind their defensive line. After all, they conceded three goals in the first leg. This could be exploited by star man and penalty taker Bukayo Saka (€9m).

UCL Fantasy managers could even back Bayern in their away game against Inter. The Bavarians come up against the best defence in the league, but they do so having managed an average of three goals per game domestically. Helping them achieve that was striker and penalty taker Harry Kane (€10.9m). The England captain is another player who has totalled well above 35 goal contributions this season, so on his day, could do some serious damage.
