Best Teams and Players to Target in Serie A Fantasy

In this article we take a look at the best teams and players to target in Serie A Fantasy. Our expert @FPL_Crisk, using his Fixture Ticker, picks out several sides, and assets from those sides, with the most potential from now until the end of the season.

Knowing the best teams and players to target in Serie A Fantasy from now until the end of the season can be extremely useful for managers. Having a good idea of where to invest looking ahead could aid in a successful end to the 2024-2025 campaign, so let’s dive in!

Napoli

Best Teams and Players to Target in Serie A Fantasy

Napoli are the main challengers to Inter’s title ambitions, and have the ideal run of fixtures. After AC Milan and Bologna in Rounds 30 and 31, they face teams ranked 11th or below.

Napoli boast the best defence in the league, with 23 goals conceded in 29 matches played, their main fantasy resources lie in their pricy centre-backs.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€7.4m) is the highest scoring player in the game (215 pts) for a reason, while Alessandro Buongiorno (€7.0m) has only been left behind because he missed eight matches due to injury in January (his pts/90 match Di Lorenzo’s numbers). Amir Rrahmani (€6.0m) is a slightly cheaper viable option despite being slightly behind the Italian duo in terms of average points.

Offensively they are not as good as other top teams. Main striker Romelu Lukaku (€10.8m) has great numbers (10 goals and eight assists). But, that doesn’t translate that well to fantasy points due to the Belgian being listed as a forward.

Scott McTominay (€6.6m) could be a good differential option in midfield. However, I feel like it would prevent managers from going for the optimal double defence.

Juventus

In terms of form, Juventus are far from their best (having conceded seven goals in total against Fiorentina and Atalanta). However, when it comes to their schedule, Juventus stand out massively. Roma, Lazio and Bologna are their main threats over the final nine fixtures, with the rest of their opposition ranking lower table. I expect their defensive form to improve, and I consider at least one Juventus defender to be optimal going forward.

Thiago Motta has been rotating a lot (also because of some injuries). This could make it slightly difficult to choose one player over another. Federico Gatti (€5.6m) always feels like the best player. But, his minutes in the previous matches have been quite dreadful. Pierre Kalulu (€4.8m) is well liked by Motta, but has just returned from an injury. So, we are not sure how nailed he is short term. This is also due to January signings Renato Veiga (€4.6m) and Lloyd Kelly (€4.2m), who have shared minutes since then.

Offensively, the name that comes to mind is Randal Kolo Muani (€7.4m). The Frenchman started very well with five goals in his first three matches, but hasn’t scored since then.

Como

Other than Inter in the final fixture of the season, Como’s opponents are all on the easier side of the Serie A table. With this being their first Serie A campaign in 20 years, they obviously aren’t as stacked as the top Italian teams. But, they have the potential to offer a up some cheap (and maybe differential) gems.

The first of several budget picks is obviously former Real Madrid wonderkid Nico Paz (€5.0m). Paz is known for being a bit of a troll this season among fantasy managers, occasionally returning against better teams in Rounds when most managers had him on the bench. He’s the main creative force of the team, often playing high up the field as a trequartista or a false-nine.

Another option is Alassane Diao (€4.8m). He joined Como in January, but already has five goals. This stat is more impressive when you consider that the worst team he faced was Udinese, who rank 10th in the league. He’s a more risky option, because his ownership is under 2%, with most managers focusing on Nico Paz.

Fiorentina

Similarly to Napoli, Fiorentina have to wait until Round 32 for their fixtures to swing. After that they face a wonderful run, especially between Rounds 32-36.

Moise Kean (€5.8m) has been one of the few reliable forwards this season (15 goals and three assists), especially for his very competitive price.

However, I would argue the two fantasy stars of the side have been Dodo (€5.0m) and Robin Gosens (€6.0m). What I really like about them is the fact that each offer something different that could attract different types of fantasy managers.

Dodo is usually pretty quiet offensively. But, his chances of playing the full match (and getting the second half clean sheet) are almost guaranteed, ideal for those who like to play safe. Gosens, on the other hand, is more risky in terms of xMins. However, he has almost three times the number of attacking returns that Dodo has (eight vs three). With Palladino moving to a 3-5-2, Dodo and Gosens can be even more dangerous.

We could also consider David De Gea (€5.2m). The Spaniard ranks third best among the goalkeepers, and could be a great option if you can’t fit in their wing-backs.

Inter

Best Teams and Players to Target in Serie A Fantasy

Of course I have to mention Inter. The Serie A leaders have a great run of fixtures ahead, with Roma and Lazio being the only two top teams left in their way to retain the Scudetto.

However, I would argue many of their players are quite the trolls fantasy wise. Inzaghi tends to change his defenders a lot mid-game, while Marcus Thuram (€9.4m) and Lautaro Martinez (€12.6m) have been very inconsistent from month to month (the French striker having been a staple of the first half of the season, and Lautaro catching up later after January).

We cannot ignore the fact that Inter are still playing in both the Champions League and the Italian Cup. As a matter of fact, their month of April will be very congested. This could lead to some additional rotation even for nailed players like the very reliable Denzel Dumfries (€6.2m), especially if they will use the international break to recover their numerous injured bench players.

That said, one player shines above the rest. Yann Sommer (€7.4m) is safe to play in each match and has been one of the most consistent fantasy performers for about two years.
