FPL Challenge Gameweek 24 is here. With exciting new badges to earn and prizes to win FPL Challenge have made some massive changes. With that in mind our tips and team reveal could be exactly what you need to have success.

What is the Challenge this week?

FPL Challenge Gameweek 24

The Challenge for Gameweek 24 is ‘The Assistant Manager GW1’.

You can play an Assistant manager this week.

Budget is £100m and Challengers have to select 10 players and one manager.

You can also own up to five players from each club

Top Picks – Goalkeepers

Liverpool are one of two clubs with a double Gameweek in the round ahead, so prioritising their assets makes sense, especially considering that they sit top of the Premier League table. With that in mind, Alisson Becker (£5.5m) stands out. The Brazilian has helped his side keep the joint most clean sheets this season.

The other goalkeeper doubling this week, is of course Jordan Pickford (£5m). Only two sides have bettered the Toffees for total clean sheets this season, so the Toffees have proven more than capable. One half of their double is against Liverpool, and although potentially limiting in terms of clean sheet potential, Pickford could well rack up save points during the game.

Other goalkeepers with solid potential, but playing just one match include: Aston Villa’ Emiliano Martinez (£5m) against Wolves, and whoever starts for Newcastle between Nick Pope (£4.9m) and Martin Dubravka (£4.3m) against Fulham.

Defenders

FPL Challenge Gameweek 24

The double arguably makes investing in the Liverpool defence a shoo-in. Because of this, and his recent attacking output, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) may be an essential this week. The full-back has produced two assists and a goal in just his previous five matches alone.

Considering Challengers have five slots available to them, bulking up on the Liverpool defence could be a good move. With rotation likely at left-back and right centre-back, it could be worth buying the safe Virgil Van Dijk (£6.4m). Only injury is likely to prevent the Dutchman starting both of his games, and he also has attacking threat via set pieces.

The fact Everton face Liverpool in their double Gameweek is extremely off-putting when it comes to considering a defensive asset, even if they do face Leicester in the same round. However, for those adamant about picking one then centre-back James Tarkowski (£4.8m) has attacking threat from set-plays in his locker. Full-back Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.4m) is a cheaper alternative for those concerned about budget.

Challengers could also fill up their defender slots with: Aston Villa Lucas Digne (£4.6m) v Wolves, Crystal Palace’ Alex Munoz (£4.8m) against Manchester United, Ipswich’ Leif Davis (£4.5m) for his match against Southampton, and Newcastle’ Lewis Hall (£5.1m) for his home clash against Fulham.

Midfielders

FPL Challenge Gameweek 24

The first name in Challengers midfield this week should be Mohamed Salah (£13.7m). Liverpool continue to sustain some of the best attacking data in the league and their penalty taker has been the most consistent asset in FPL this season.

Starting Liverpool’ last five matches in the league, Luis Diaz (£7.5m) could be another route into the Liverpool midfield. The Colombian has however been short of form recently, but a double Gameweek could easily change that.

West Ham have been woeful defensively this season, and they face one of the best attacks in the league next, Chelsea. Their main threat is of course Cole Palmer (£11.3m), who sits as the second highest scoring player in the game.

There are plenty of great midfielder options to choose from this week, including Newcastle’ Anthony Gordon (£7.7m) who is in great form, Aston Villa’ Morgan Rogers (£5.6m) against a poor Wolves defence, Brentford’ Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m) for his meeting with a ropey Tottenham backline, and Manchester United’ Amad Diallo (£5.6m) v Crystal Palace.

Forwards

The standout forward this week, and by a distance, is Liverpool’ Cody Gakpo (£7.6m). As well as being one of his side most reliable attackers for gametime, he also banked a huge 16-point haul in his previous match.

Although short of convincing attacking options in general, Everton have one player who could do well this week with two matches. Iliman Ndiaye (£5.4m) has scored in back-to-back matches under new manager David Moyes, and should continue to take penalties in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’ absence.

Newcastle’ Alexander Isak (£9.5m), Ipswich’ Liam Delap (£5.6m), Aston Villa’ Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) and Brentford’ Yoane Wissa (£6.3m) are also great picks.

Managers

FPL Challenge Gameweek 24

Arne Slot (£1.5m) could be difficult to ignore this week. The Liverpool manager gets points for wins, goals scored, and clean sheets heading into the next round. Games against Everton and Bournemouth may be tricky, but the Reds have proven themselves against much better opposition all season.

Some could take the risk and back Everton’ David Moyes (£0.5m). As well being much cheaper than Slot, Moyes could pick up an additional 10 points for a win over first place Liverpool. He also has potential against a poor Leicester side.

Other managers worth considering, but with a single Gameweek, include Wolves manager Vitor Pereira (£0.8m) for his high upside against Aston Villa and Brighton’ Fabian Hurzeler (£1.1m) for the same reason.

@FPLReaction Team Reveal

FPL Challenge Gameweek 24
  • Even taking into account that we have to pick a manager and more players this week, building my team felt straight forward.
  • I’m only allowed five Liverpool slots, so it made sense to go with double attack, double defence and Arne Slot. I don’t mind Moyes, but I don’t think he has a chance against Liverpool during the double.
  • I’m not convinced Ndiaye will outscore Isak, even with two matches, so Isak takes his place.
  • I was between Rogers and Gordon, but the over reliance on Newcastle, with Hall and Isak already, could be a problem.

Gameweek 23 Challenge Review

  • Last week was the new signings challenge. The lack of new signings forced me into a template team, and ultimately a template week.
  • All of my outfield players returned which was good, and captain Salah went fine.
  • Overall I hit 41 points, which mean a round rank of 70k, and I rose a few spots from 862nd to 845th in the world.
  • Good luck this week!
