FPL Gameweek 24 Best Wildcard Team

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 24 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.

Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.

FPL Gameweek 24 Best Wildcard Team

Who has the best fixtures?

Everton and Liverpool rank at the top of the ticker, mostly due to their double Gameweek in 24.

Brentford, Manchester United and Crystal Palace all fill up the remainder of the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Manchester City, Newcastle, Brighton, Southampton and Aston Villa all rank among the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Best Wildcard Team

With the help of the above and Plan FPL, we built the best Wildcard team for Gameweek 24:

Goalkeepers

The double Gameweek ahead and great fixtures immediately after could make Jordan Pickford (£5m) a great option. No goalkeeper has produced more bonus than Pickford this season, which gives him an extra edge.

West Ham’ Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) appears to be new manager Graham Potter’ favourite between the sticks based on his first match and style of play. As well as potentially being a good back-up to Pickford, he also helps enable funds elsewhere.

Defenders

Liverpool’ defensive form this season, their upcoming double and fixtures long-term means defensive investment could be crucial. With that in mind, and based on the fact he has two assists and a goal in his previous five matches, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) is a shoo-in.

Everton rank among the top teams in the league for total clean sheets kept, and with the double ahead, it could be worth doubling up on their defence. One of the cheapest routes in is full-back Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.4m)

Crystal Palace still have good long-term fixtures, so it could be beneficial to back one of their defenders. Only Manchester City’ Josko Gvardiol has produced more expected goals than Alex Munoz (£4.8m) this season.

Totally giving up on the Arsenal defence could be a mistake, so installing one of their assets long-term may be wise. Among them, Gabriel (£6.4m) remains the standout, due to his fantastic goal threat from set-plays.

Fulham also have good fixtures, in which you could rotate one of their defenders in and out of the starting XI. Whilst Antonee Robinson is the best option, Timothy Castagne (£4.2m) comes in a huge £0.9m cheaper.

Midfielders

The best and most consistent asset in the game has a double Gameweek next and good fixtures after. So, going without Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) could be a massive mistake.

Chelsea may have mixed fixtures, but they face three of the worst defences in the league this season next. The Blues also continue to maintain very good attacking statistics. With this in mind, Cole Palmer (£11.3m) could be a shoo-in.

Brentford have impressed all season offensively and they are coming into a nice period of fixtures. The Bees’ most effective attacker, and the third highest scoring player in FPL thus far this season is penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m).

Budget players are going to be crucial for the period ahead, and one of them is Morgan Rogers (£5.6m). Aston Villa clash with several ropey defences ahead, and Rogers is one of their most reliable attackers for gametime.

Another nicely priced asset is Bournemouth Justin Kluivert (£5.7m). Racking up a massive 43 points in just his previous three league matches alone shows just how good Kluivert has been for Bournemouth recently. The Cherries have also been excellent this season, so they could be reliable long-term.

Forwards

Regardless of the fixtures, Alexander Isak (£9.2m) has been one of the best assets in the game this season. The Newcastle striker has netted at least one in nine of his previous 10 league matches – highlighting a relentless run of form.

Back-to-back wins in the previous two matches and four goals scored makes Everton a much more convincing side than they were offensively. The Toffees double Gameweek also contributes to Iliman Ndiaye‘ (£5.4m) inclusion. It also helps that he has scored in both of his last two games.

Owning another piece of the Liverpool attack could be vital this week for their two matches, especially when considering Salah’ ownership. One player perfect to fill that role is Cody Gakpo (£7.6m), who hit 16 points in his previous match.
