Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17 Expert Picks and Team Reveal

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we take a look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17 expert picks and team reveal. @FPLGunnersaurus joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17 expert picks and team reveal can help hugely for the round ahead.

Defenders – Premium – Alphonso Davies (17m / 5% TSB / FCB)

Pricey? Yes. That said though Phonzie is starting to dish out some fantasy returns that merit the steep valuation. With 430pts against Leipzig on MD15 and 337pts on MD16, Davies should definitely be under your consideration for a move in this matchday. Looking back further the Canadian has consistently been returning scores above 200pts for a long while now. He’s worth a thought at least, even if you prefer the cheaper Upamecano.

Mid-price – Mitchell Weiser (13m / 9% / SVW)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17

Some players can be labelled fixture proof and one player I’m learning that about is Bremen’s Weiser. Weiser averages 357pts per game across his last three which on MD16 included a tough away trip to Leipzig. Die Werderaner have a nice couple of fixtures on the horizon hosting both Heidenheim on MD17 and hosting Augsburg on MD18. In Weiser’s current form he’s definitely up there too in terms of where your star should be going in defence.

Budget – Yannik Lührs (1m / 4% TSB / BVB)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17

It has already been reported that none of the Dortmund players who missed out against Leverkusen will return against MD17 opponents Holstein Kiel. Therefore if you’re looking for a nailed on 1m starting defender, centre-back Lührs is your man.

Given Dortmund conceded three times against the champions a score of 99pts on MD16 wasn’t bad. He was heavily involved in build-up play scoring 69pts for passes into the middle and front thirds. What’s not to like about bench fodder with an upside of actually getting a return?

Midfielders Premium – Xavi Simons (17m / 3% TSB / RBL)

Xavi Simons returned from injury with a bang on MD16 when he scored twice in a 4-2 win over Werder Bremen. He returned 359pts rewarding fantasy managers who brought him in, despite not being sure of a starting berth.

He came off nice and early too which should point towards another start away against Stuttgart on MD17. It’s a tough tie on paper but only six sides have conceded more than Stuttgart at home in the league this season. I can see there being goals for Leipzig in this midweek affair.

Mid-price – Jens Stage (9m / 3% TSB / SVW)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17

If you’re a manager who looks at both form and fixture when targeting a player then have a look at Stage for MD17. He’s the fifth best midfielder when it comes to fantasy form currently and as earlier noted in the Weiser pick has a couple of home ties on the bounce. He’s scored more than 240pts in three of his last four game and has demonstrated this season with his MD5 hat-trick that he can find the back of the net too.

Budget – Tom Bischof (5m / 30% TSB / TSG)

You may think I’m crazy suggesting a Hoffenheim midfielder against Bayern this week. But, when you look at the 5m price tag and the fantasy returns that have come with it, the pick makes sense. The young German’s floor has been around the 170pts-190pts mark with a ceiling in the 300pts-350pts range.

For 5m I’d happily snap your hands off knowing I’m as good as guaranteed a score within the above range every week. If you prefer someone with a higher ceiling on this matchday alone though, take a look at Augsburg’s Claude-Maurice for 6m.

Forwards – Premium – Serhou Guirassy (19m / 16% TSB / BVB)

A third and final pick from Die Schwarzgelben and again this is solely down to the fixture against Kiel. I personally prefer Kane for 1m more at home to Hoffenheim this matchday. Bu, if you wanted to go different you could go for the Guinean goal machine.

Aside from the reverse of this tie this is going to be the easiest, on paper at least, fixture of the season for the Black and Yellow. Dortmund will look to bounce back from their MD16 defeat here and Guirassy will look to fill his boots.

Mid-price – Patrik Schick (14m / 7% TSB / B04)

With 770pts across his last two game courtesy of six goals Paddy is on fire. The Leverkusen striker is in the middle of a purple match and with the impending departure of Frankfurt’s Marmoush may be the man managers move to, potentially as soon as MD17.

Opponents Mainz are in great form having won six of their last seven games. But, this is one the champions are expected to win to keep up the pressure on Bayern.

Budget – Robert Skov (9m / 18% TSB / FCU)

Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 17

I struggled to pick a budget option this week but if I had to go with one I’d pick Union Berlin’s Danish winger. He has ticked along nicely over his last four games with highlights of 234pts against Stuttgart and 305pts against bottom side Bochum. Die Eisernen host Augsburg on MD17, who are in poor form having lost their last three games on the spin. They’re also yet to win away this season.

Notes

  • Transfers OUT – Mittelstädt, Nebel, Grifo, Dōan and Millot.
  • Transfers IN – Weiser, Wirtz, Musiala, Gittens and Claude-Maurice.
  • Formation: 3-5-2.
  • Goalkeeper – Schwolow (4m – FCU) – This depends on whether Rønnow will be back from his elbow injury. If not Schwolow stays for another game.
  • Defenders – (STAR) Grimaldo (20m – B04), Brown (5m – SGE) and Weiser (13m – SVW) – Weiser comes in for Mittelstädt but the star remains on Grimaldo given the potential he has on any given matchday.
  • Midfielders – (STAR) Wirtz (20m – B04), Claude-Maurice (6m – FCA), Musiala (20m – FCB), Olise (16m – FCB) and Gittens (10m – BVB) – there is wholesale changes in the middle of the park with big names like Wirtz and Musiala returning to the fold.
  • Forwards – Marmoush (11m – SGE) and (STAR) Kane (20m – FCB) – I’d be confident that we know whether Marmoush starts or not prior to the MD17 deadline. If however it’s not looking likely, I’ll look to find funds for Schick instead.
  • BENCH – Phillipp (1m – TSG), Chase (1m – VFB), Lührs (1m – BVB) and Breunig (1m – HDH).
  • 1m in the bank.
