Max Captain Chip Activated

DON’T FOGET TO ACTIVATE YOUR MAX CAPTAIN CHIP! This is something I had forgotten to do multiple times when looking at my draft. This week is a triple Gameweek, so, in my opinion, it’s the best time to use your max captain chip.

Goalkeeper

There doesn’t seem to be many sides with three good opportunities to keep a clean sheet this week. However, one team who catches my eye on multiple levels is Birmingham, who have managed a clean sheet in their last two games. For that reason I think Ryan Allsop could be a great pick.

Defenders

A back-three continues to be my favourite, and probably the most viable formation going into any given week. One player who is a shoo-in for me this week is ‘clearance king’ Mickey Demetriou. Demetriou continues to dominate amongst defenders due to having multiple routes to points.

Joining Demetriou, and another player who has served me well this season is Max Cleworth. Wrexham may have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last two games, but I think they could easily add another clean sheets to the 12 they have already managed this season. Cleworth has also shown he has attacking threat and the ability to pick up extra points via defensive actions.

Completing the backline, I have opted for Jayden Bogle. Leeds have been relentless this season and their flying full-back is one of the most dangerous defenders in the league offensively. Even if Bogle starts just two of his three matches, I still think he is better than most defenders who may play all three.

Midfielders

Finn Azaz may have been a frustrating own recently, but he plays for a side who rank amongst the best teams for goals scored across all three leagues. The fixture against Burnley will no doubt be tough, but his other two matches against Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City could see him go big.

Another player who I would consider an essential, like Demetriou, is Ossama Ashley. The Salford City man has been one of the most consistent assets in the game – hitting a massive five double-digit hauls in his last seven matches. As well as having attacking potential, Ashley also has the ability to produce a large quantity of interceptions in any given game.

Forward

Birmingham have huge potential this week, and based on their current form, they are guaranteed to score goals. Usually involved in their goals is penalty taker Jay Stansfield, who spearheads the efficient frontline. He has been in great form recently – bagging six goals in his previous six league games.

Team Selections

  • Leeds – Out of all teams across all three leagues this week, Leeds have the most potential in terms of team selection. What gives them even more appeal this week is the fact they play away from home twice, which would mean extra points if successful.
  • Birmingham – At the time of writing I have selected Birmingham three times already. That would mean if I picked them this week, I’ll only be able to select them one more time this season. I think I’m fine with this, because as the season goes on, and they pick up more and more points, they are likely to get complacent. I also think that the type of teams I select will vary more and more as other teams become desperate and ultimately better picks.

Note: My over reliance on Birmingham is clear. So, I could well change my team selection from them to another team. Other sides I could move to include: Coventry, Watford, Reading or Wycombe.
