Marc Jobling: Gameweek 16 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 16, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweeks 14 and 15 go?

The midweek matches kept me at 1.16 million, from 65 points. I finally started a Vitalii Mykolenko return but there were too many blanks, worsened by my sale of Morgan Rogers immediately backfiring. Not owning William Saliba’s goal was also harmful. However, the main damage came from picking the wrong captain: Palmer scored but Mohamed Salah hauled 18 points.

In Gameweek 15, the Merseyside derby postponement meant Palmer again took my armband. This time it turned out brilliantly, as I received double points from the week’s top scorer. While missing out on further Saliba success, I kept Bryan Mbeumo’s 13 points, Dominic Solanke’s strike and even the goal of differential defender Nathan Collins.

What does your defence look like?

75 points fired me up to 681k, despite numerous defensive absences meaning I had just 10 men.

If Gabriel misses out on a third match, I might have to start thinking of a plan. Because Rayan Ait-Nouri has only two more weeks of use, Jacob Greaves isn’t nailed and fixtures are nasty for both Collins and Mykolenko.

Away from Liverpool and Arsenal assets, it feels like every other defender is simply a question of whether they’ll receive two appearance points or lose one by conceding a couple.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

The seven have a very strong set of Gameweek 16 fixtures, which is why I’m keeping Solanke for one more outing. I can even see the benched Mbeumo getting a return at Chelsea but am using the logic that it’s slightly less likely than the others and Brentford have just one away point.

Then again, I’m so frustrated with Antoine Semenyo that maybe a late swap takes place between the two.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 16 and beyond?

I feel almost invincible with three transfers in the pocket and a likelihood of carrying them over once again, such is the attractive fixtures.

Mikel Arteta’s words on Gabriel are important though. I could bump forward my already-planned Mbeumo downgrade that subsequently adds Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Additionally, seeing the love for Alexander Isak might make me nervous. I like avoiding Newcastle players in FPL because, as a fan, I’m cheering for them regardless and I want to be willing on as many people as possible. But he’s really, really good.

Finally, what about captaincy?

While I think Palmer at home to Brentford has haul potential, I’m a sucker for EO safety and will give the armband to Salah.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
