Fantasy EFL Top Picks for Gameweek 19
In this article we take a look at the Fantasy EFL top picks for Gameweek 19. We bring in our expert and regular Fantasy EFL contributor @FPLEdgeworth to reveal two of his best players in each position ahead of the new round.
Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 19 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.
Goalkeepers – Michael Cooper – Sheffield United
The first player in this week’s top picks is Sheffield United goalkeeper Cooper, the Englishman. This week, he plays Plymouth at home, home is where Sheffield United have kept eight clean sheets in a row, so against a side that is in the relegation zone, we should see another clean sheet for Cooper.
Mark Howard – Wrexham
Next up is Howard, who finds himself now as the starting keeper for Wrexham due to Arthur Okonkwo’ injury. With almost a guarantee to start, and having managed two clean sheets in his first two starts, he could perform well again this week against a Cambridge side in the relegation zone.
Defenders – Toby Sims – Harrogate Town
Normally when you think of Harrogate defenders, Sims doesn’t usually come to mind. But, in the last four games, he has stolen the limelight – producing 43 clearances and bagging six or more points in each of those same games. In addition, Harrogate face League Two’ lowest scorers, Tranmere, so there’s a good chance they pick up a clean sheet as well.
Max Cleworth – Wrexham
My second Wrexham player is Cleworth, who, without injury, could be sitting as the highest scoring defender in the game. Cleworth has been fantastic this campaign with an impressive four goals, one assist, and 10 clean sheets in just 15 games. Cambridge lay ahead, which is a great chance to return for him.
Midfielders – Ossama Ashley – Salford City
My first midfielder is Ashley, a player that has been picking up points whilst doing so seemingly under the radar. Ashley has produced an impressive 49 points in the last five games – helped by a huge 18 interceptions and one assist. This week he faces Notts County, a possession based side, who could give Ashley plenty of opportunities for more interceptions.
Ethon Archer – Cheltenham Town
Archer is a player that has been mentioned in these articles previously this season. However, after a three-game dry spell for points, most people thought he was an asset of the past. But, he goes into his match against Morecambe after scoring in the previous round. Morecambe have been woeful this season – sitting the relegation zone. So, Archer could have huge potential this week.
Forwards – Nathan Lowe – Walsall
Next up is Walsall forward Lowe, who so far has been flying in League Two with nine goals and five assists in 16 games. The in-from striker comes up against Barrow in the round ahead, who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 10 matches. This could be a perfect opening for Lowe to strike again.
Andy Cook – Bradford City
Another player in League Two to get double-figure goal contributions this season is Cook. So far Cook has managed 10 goals, and after a goal and an assist in midweek in the cup, he should continue that form into the weekend where they play Swindon. Swindon sit just outside the relegation zone due to a poor start to their campaign, and Cook can take advantage of their inconsistencies.
Teams to Target
- Wycombe Wanderers – League One’s leaders are my first team to target this week. They play the bottom-placed team in the division, Shrewsbury, which, since beating Birmingham, have lost in back-to-back games. This a must-win if Wycombe hope to stay at the top of the table, and they also play at home, which could mean additional points if successful.
- Sheffield Wednesday – Sheffield Wednesday is a surprising pick most would argue. But, they play Oxford, who have only won one of their last 10 games. Sheffield United head into the game off the back of winning their last two matches. They also play away from home, which boosts their appeal.
