UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 Best Captains
The Champions League continues! Today we pick out the UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 best captains. As well as picking out the standout captaincy option on each day of Matchday 6 we also select one or more differential options for those looking to gain rank early on.
UCL Fantasy managers have the ability the select a captain on each day of a Matchday. If you aren’t happy with your captain return on the first day then you can change your captain to another player on the second day.
The Best Captain on Tuesday 10th December
It would take a brave UCL Fantasy manager to overlook Mohamed Salah (€10.1m) for captaincy on Tuesday. Liverpool sit at the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables due to their relentless form this season.
As well as winning every single one of their European matches so far, Arne Slot’ men have averaged more than two goals scored per game. They take that scoring form into a fixture against Girona, who have lost their last two Champions League matches on the bounce.
Girona have been hugely inconsistent defensively, which is something the in-form Egyptian can tak advantage of. As well as amassing a mammoth 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League, Salah has also registered one goal and four assists in just five Champions League matches. Seemingly still playing at his peak and chasing down a contract, there may not be a let up in terms of goal contributions in Matchday 6.
Tuesday Differentials
There are plenty of differentials to opt for if looking to avoid Mohamed Salah. One team you could look to is German giants Bayern as they clash with Ukrainian side Shakhtar. The injury to Harry Kane appears to have pushed midfielder Jamal Musiala (€9m) into an advanced position. ‘Bambi’ has produced three goals in his last two league matches, suggesting that he is heading into Matchday 6 in top form.
Sporting CP will be hoping to bounce back after their shocking 5-1 defeat to Arsenal in the previous round. If anything, they will want to recapture their Matchday 4 form in which they managed to dismantle Manchester City 4-1. They have a good opportunity to do just that this week against Club Brugge. Leading the frontline is penalty taker Viktor Gyökeres (€7.8m). The Swede has been in brilliant form this season – bagging a massive 18 domestic league contributions, and five goals and one assist in five Champions league games.
The Best Captain on Wednesday 11th December
Originally, two options caught the eye for captaincy on Wednesday. However, one of those options was Milan midfielder Christian Pulisic, who recently picked up an injury, ruling him out of Matchday 6. The American’ absence this week means the clear standout for the armband is Bukayo Saka (€8.9m).
Recently overcoming their four match winless win, Arsenal seem to be gathering momentum. Prior to their clash against Fulham, the Gooners won four matches on the bounce, whilst also netting a huge 15 goals.
Contributing to the goals mentioned above was Saka. In fact, at the time of writing, the Arsenal penalty taker has collected a huge five assists and three goals in his previous four games. Hoping to add to the 18 goals and assists he has managed in all competitions so far this season, Saka goes into his home match against Monaco in explosive form.
Wednesday Differentials
There are also plenty of different captaincy options on the Wednesday. One of the best teams to look to for potential this week could well be Atleti. The Spanish side go into their clash in great scoring form. They also face a Slovan Bratislava side who have conceded more goals than any other side in the Champions League League Phase. Primed to scrutinise their awful backline is Argentine Julian Alvarez (€8m), who netted a brace in Matchday 5.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (€11m) should never be underestimated for captaincy. The English side may be out of sorts currently. But, that hasn’t stopped their Norwegian penalty taker from scoring five goals in his last four Champions League matches. Juventus may appear tough on paper, but the Italian side have kept just one clean sheet in their current campaign.
Another firm option for the armband is Robert Lewandowski (€9.5m). Barcelona are free-scoring at the moment – racking up a whopping 18 goals in Europe already. This total means they have maintained an average of 3.6 goals scored per game. Amongst the goals and leading the attack is their main man and penalty taker Lewandowski. As well as notching up 18 goal contributions in 16 La Liga matches this season, he has also managed seven goals in five European games.
