Marc Jobling: Gameweek 14 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 14, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 13 go?

A red arrow followed last week’s big rise, mainly because I still insist on being without Bukayo Saka.

However, his Arsenal team-mate Gabriel tried his hardest to keep up and I appreciate that, even though he was once again taken off early with a knock.

Cole Palmer and captain Mohamed Salah were superb but the unforeseen Dominic Solanke illness – combined with Antoine Semenyo’s ban – unfortunately meant Vitalii Mykolenko’s negative score came in as autosub.

This took it down to 63 points and a drop from 956k to 1.16m.

What does your defence look like?

For this week only, it looks alright. My relationship with Mykolenko is terrible though – I’ve owned him for all of Everton’s four clean sheets in seven matches but not once benefitted from it.

He and Rayan Ait-Nouri are against each other, both with the potential to deliver at each end.

I’m likely to pick David Raya over Lukasz Fabianski, actually, with the hope being that Gabriel was simply having his minutes managed ahead of this chaotic period.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

Not having Saka or the close-to-suspension Nicolas Jackson isn’t fun but, at the same time, I have a benching dilemma for Gameweek 14.

Semenyo is currently sat on my bench but he could easily step in for Morgan Rogers or Bryan Mbeumo. Maybe a decision won’t be needed, should Solanke be ruled out against his former club.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 14 and beyond?

With two free transfers and £6.8m in the bank, I could follow through with the original plan of moving Raya to Bart Verbruggen to allow Erling Haaland to replace Solanke.

But, right now, it might be better to know I can do it rather than actually proceed, taking the form of Haaland and Manchester City into account.

My latest thought is to use three Gameweek 15 transfers for a different commitment. Saka, Alexander Isak and Trent Alexander-Arnold for Solanke, Mbeumo and Nathan Collins. Let’s roll and see what develops.

Finally, what about captaincy?

Had Palmer not scored late on, I might’ve hesitated on captaining him at Southampton – especially when Salah bagged yet another haul afterwards.

Handing him the armband likely means cheering against Salah’s effective ownership (EO) and I’m too safe for that. As a Newcastle fan, I know the Egyptian will score at least once.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
