FPL: Buy Sell and Keep for Gameweek 8

The 7th round of Fantasy Premier League is over so we look to the next and look at which players are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 8. Whether that be through injury, team and player form or other factors we advise the potential fate of assets in your teams.

Looking at players who are a buy sell and keep for Gameweek 8 could be extremely beneficial to FPL managers. Knowing what to do with assets in your team can ultimately bring clarity with transfer use, captaincy and chip strategy.

Buy

Bryan Mbeumo (£7.5m) – If you are not on the Mbeumo train already, it’s not too late to get on board. The Brentford midfielder and penalty taker has been in excellent form – scoring in his last three matches on the bounce. He also faces and out-of-sorts Manchester United next up.

Everton – Everton have a very nice set of fixtures coming up, starting with a game against newly promoted Ipswich at home. This makes their assets much more appealing. At a price of just £4.8m managers could opt for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford or centre-back James Tarkowski at the back. For those more convinced by their frontline then penalty taker and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6m) could offer himself up as an option. In better form currently however is midfielder Dwight McNeil (£5.7m). The winger has produced an impressive two double-digit hauls in his last four matches.

Ipswich – Newly promoted side Ipswich could be another team we look to. Defensively full-back Leif Davis (£4.5m) stands out due to his assist potential. To invest even cheaper then centre-back Jacob Greaves comes in at just £4.1m. One player who continues to impress in attack is striker Liam Delap (£5.5m), he has scored three goals in his last two games.

Manchester City – The current Champions seem to be coming into a good period in terms of schedule. Rico Lewis (£4.7m) remains the cheapest route into the defence. Whilst many already own Erling Haaland, midfielder Phil Foden (£9.2m), last years player of the season, seems to be retruning to the fold.

Nottingham Forest – With Crystal Palace at home next up, and taking into account their reasonably solid form Nottingham Forest could be where we invest. Goalkeeper Matz Selz (£4.5m) and full-back Ola Aina (£4.5m) could be the best routes into the backline. Penalty taker and striker Chris Wood (£6.2m) has returned in four of his matches so far and continues to be a good pick. In midfield Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.4m) may be the cheapest and most reliable route into the attack.

Tottenham – The London club have a lovely fixture against West Ham at home next. This and their schedule makes them a good team to invest in. Pedro Porro (£5.5m) continues to maintain some fantastic attacking data from defence. A cheaper option at the back would be Micky Van de Ven (£4.5m). In attack there are plenty of options, from James Maddison (£7.5m) who has managed two double-digit hauls in his last three games to fellow midfielder Brennan Johnson (£6.5m) who has returned in his last three matches on the bounce. Leading the frontline is Dominic Solanke (£7.6m) who has also returned in his last three matches.

Sell

Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m) – The Bournemouth midfielder is a tough one. After some lovely fixtures he now faces two of the best teams in the league, Arsenal and Manchester City. With that in mind and better alternatives with easier fixtures, it could be time up for him. That being said, if you have the flexibility to bench him until his fixtures turn in Gameweek 11, then that could be a good move.

Eberechi Eze (£6.8m) – Nottingham Forest away next may not look bad on paper but they have sustained some brilliant defensive data so far. If you still haven’t let go of Eze then this week may be a good opportunity. The Crystal Palace midfielder has returned just once this season and has been a very poor FPL asset overall.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) – Liverpool face some of the best frontlines in the league next which could limit his clean sheet potential. He also costs a lot of money. So, selling him for a cheaper option could held fund upgrades elsewhere. Rotation and fixtures could also make midfielders Luis Diaz (£8.1m) and Diogo Jota (£7.4m) a lot less appealing.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.2m) – It’s another case of form overruling fixtures. His upcoming schedule is good but he has hugely disappointed this season. The Manchester United penalty taker has managed just one assist all season. This is simply not good enough for his price.

Keep

Aston Villa – With Tottenham and Liverpool ahead some are considering what to do with their Aston Villa assets. But with Fulham and Bournemouth in the next two games it could be safer to keep in form attackers like striker Ollie Watkins (£9.1m) and midfielder Morgan Rogers (£5.3m) for now. Until we hear news on whether defender Ezri Konsa (£4.5m) has a long-term injury or not, it could be worth holding him too.

Chelsea attackers – Only Manchester City have scored more goals than Chelsea so far. Although the Blues face Liverpool away next they also play Newcastle at home, Manchester United and Leicester in their next five games. With both in mind the likes of striker Nicolas Jackson (£7.9m) and midfielders Noni Maduke (£6.5m) and Cole Palmer (£10.8m) could be worth holding onto. In fact, some may even decide they want to buy them.

Emile Smith-Rowe (£5.7m) – Many may concerned that he didn’t start his last match against Manchester City. Some may also worry about his next fixture against Aston Villa. But, with Everton, Brentford and Crystal Palace ahead, selling him could be a big mistake.

Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) – There is warrant in selling him to upgrade elsewhere. But, considering his fantastic form this season he may be worth holding onto. Liverpool have maintained dominant attacking data this season and Salah is their best option up front. He also takes his sides penalties which of course holds appeal.

Arsenal – Some may be looking long-term with Arsenal. The Gooners face some tough fixtures ahead on paper. But, they are also in top form. So, holding onto them until either after Bournemouth next or long-term could be the best play.
