Our Fantasy EFL Fantasy top picks for Gameweek 5 can be hugely beneficial for fantasy managers. Knowing who the best players to own in each position and top two teams to target are could help you beat your mini-league rivals and secure a good rank.
Note: There is no Championship Fixtures this week. Due to the international break some League One and League Two fixtures have and may continue to be postponed.
Goalkeepers – Paul Farman
Barrow have started the season very well – winning and keeping clean sheets in three of their four matches. They also have a lovely home fixture against Swindon this week which could give Paul Farman the potential to keep a clean sheet.
Filip Marschall
After an awful start to the season results seem to be picking up for Crewe – winning two and drawing one of their last three games. Crewe face a Morecambe side next who have failed to score a single goal this season. This indicates that Filip Marschall could well have clean sheet potential this week.
Defenders – Max Cleworth
Wrexham go into their home match off the back of keeping three consecutive clean sheets in the league. One player we should consider from their defence is Max Cleworth. Clemworth has proven to be a constant attacking threat – adding to the goal he scored in pre-season with two goals in his last four league matches.
Anthony O’Connor
Harrogate face Cheltenham this week who have failed to score in any of their last two matches. Harrogate’s Anthony O’Connor could be a wise pick, the centre-back has averaged a mammoth 11.8 clearance per game so far this season which suggests he could pick up plenty of extra points.
Midfielders – Adam Phillips
Barnsley could be another great team to invest in this week. So far they have netted at least two goals in four of their last five matches. One player who has been contributing is Adam Phillips. As well as taking penalties Phillips has produced three goals and two assists already this season in all competitions.
Luke Molyneux
As well as winning three of their four league games so far Doncaster have also netted nine goals. The clash with Gillingham at home in the round ahead could be a difficult one to ignore. This could give main man Luke Molyneux a good opportunity to add to his five goals and two assists already banked this campaign.
Forwards – Jodi Jones
Jodi Jones continues the pattern of selecting attackers who play at home. Notts County are another team impressing from an offensive perspective this season and Jones has claimed a huge three assists and two goals in his last three matches to influence that.
Jack Marriott
Although attractive from a defensive perspective Wrexham could also have massive attacking potential in their home match against Shrewsbury. Leading the frontline is Jack Marriott who has scored in two of his four league matches.
Teams to Target
- Port Vale – They will be hoping to bounce back this week after losing their last two matches. Newport lay ahead and considering their form it won’t be an easy task. The extra points for playing away is their biggest appeal and one I am going to take a chance with.
- Rotherham – After their recent loss against Reading I quite fancy targeting Charlton this week. Rotherham’s recent win against Huddersfield was a clear sign of improvements and playing away from home can once again give me the big return I need.
