The Newcastle backline was hampered by injuries last season and that resulted in only one player hitting the 3000 minute mark. Centre-back Fabian Schar (£5.5m) played more minutes than any other player last season after racking up 32 starts.

Dan Burn’ (£4.5m) versatility and fitness helped him to collect 2724 minutes of gameplay. Around 500 minutes behind him was full-back Kieran Trippier (£6m) who played 2250 minutes.

Key players like goalkeeper Nick Pope (£5m) missed a large portion of the campaign due to injury and so played just 1341 minutes.

Kieran Trippier reached double-digits for attacking returns after hitting one goal and a massive 10 assists. Impressively Schar created seven attacking returns from his centre-back position.

Burn was also amongst the goal contributions after picking up four.

Additional Notes

Both Sven Botman (£4.5m) and Jamaal Lascelles (£4.5m) remain injured long-term which rules them out as options for now.

Rumours continue to heat up on the potential departure of Kieran Trippier which could also affect the appeal other options.

Other reports and rumours suggest that Dan Burn could also be replaced in the starting XI which places doubt over him as an option.

Conclusion

Based on the above and taking into account price-point we could look to left-back Lewis Hall (£4.5m). Hall has started three of Newcastle’ five recent friendlies at left back and scored in the process.

The only other player who came close to the 3000 minute mark was midfielder Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) with 2903.

Meanwhile the third and final Newcastle attacker to breach the 2000 minute mark was striker Alexander Isak (£8.5m).

Topping his teammates for attacking returns was Anthony Gordon who racked an impressive 27. His tally was made up of 11 goals and 16 assists. Just two returns short of his teammate was Alexander Isak who produced 25.

Conclusion

Alexander Isak spearheads a lethal Newcastle attacking whilst also taking penalties. When fit he has proven to be one of the best strikers in the league and for that reason is his sides standout option in attack.

Anthony Gordon is also a brilliant option. Gordon shows a good balance of both creativity and goal threat which gives him multiple routes to points.

Bruno Guimaraes could be an interesting differential. The Brazilian is the best amongst his attacking teammates and has also shown a solid return rate.
