Which FPL players are set for a 2024/25 price rise?
Last season’s best-performing FPL players are probably going to receive a notable price rise ahead of 2024/25.
As always, the upcoming summer launch will provide a mix of individual rises, falls and unchanged price tags, when compared to those of last time.
Let’s take an educated guess on who is about to increase.
DEFENCE
Without a doubt, the Arsenal back line will become more expensive. No side conceded fewer goals (29), shots on target (83) or big chances (40), picking up 18 clean sheets. That’s almost half of their matches.
Ben White began at £5.5m, whilst Gabriel, William Saliba and David Raya were all initially £5.0m. Expect the outfielders to now be at least £6.0m, with Raya up to £5.5m.
After those, the next-best defender was Pedro Porro – number one in his position for shots (53) and expected goal involvement (xGI, 8.98), from a £5.0m start. He scored in three of the final eight outings.
Josko Gvardiol had an even freakier purple patch. Without any attacking returns until Gameweek 33, he ended with four goals and two assists. We predict a rise from £5.0m to £5.5m.
Meanwhile, Everton’s backline kept the joint-second-most clean sheets (13). It meant that £4.0m Jarrad Branthwaite brought incredible value as a fifth defender, also netting three times. Both he and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford may reach £5.0m.
MIDFIELDERS
Here, the only place to start is with Cole Palmer. He didn’t start until Gameweek 7 yet somehow ended the campaign as FPL’s top scorer. His 244 points came from 22 goals, 13 assists and 10 double-digit hauls. Palmer quickly made a mockery of the £5.0m price tag and it could easily double to £10.0m this time.

On 230 points came Phil Foden – armed with two hat-tricks and three braces – narrowly ahead of Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal attacker accumulated the most penalty area touches (290) and grabbed 29 returns.
Across North London, Son Heung-min was priced a bit too low last season. A Gameweek 4 hat-trick started a run of eight goals in seven, although his closing nine matches brought just 2.15 non-penalty expected goals (NPxG).
We also reckon that England internationals Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze will both rise to £7.5m.
The Newcastle winger has some good early fixtures and scored against all of the supposed ‘big six’ last season. He ranked second for assists (16) but there was a huge bias towards home returns.
Eze also has appealing fixtures but is about to lose friend Michael Olise to Bayern Munich. Still, his final six starts brought five goals and two assists, grabbing 18 points in Gameweek 38.
FORWARDS
Overall, the player with most goals (27), shots (121) and expected goals (xG, 29.32) was Erling Haaland. But he equalled the record £14.0m starting price and – technically – had a worse season.

It allowed Ollie Watkins to take the crown of FPL’s best forward. His 228 points consisted of 19 goals and a league-high 18 assists. He even had a couple of run-outs that brought four or five returns.
21-goal Alexander Isak has the same appealing start as Gordon but will probably cost more. Only Haaland had a better minutes per goal record and, of all forwards with at least 15 strikes, Isak did so in the fewest minutes.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke had a particularly fruitful festive period and ended second for box shots (97) and fourth for xG (19.63).
Jean-Philippe Mateta managed to better Crystal Palace team-mate Eze’s final day score, thanks to three goals and an assist. Just one player totalled more points between Gameweeks 28 and 38, boosted by his outstanding 29 during Double Gameweek 34.
With such brilliant late form, we’ll likely see high Mateta ownership for the opening rounds of 2024/25.
