EURO 2024 Fantasy Belgium Top Picks

In this article we take a look at the EURO 2024 Fantasy Belgium top picks. Here we touch upon the recent form of Belgium, how they achieved qualification, highlight their best picks, and anything else of relevance.

Our EURO 2024 Fantasy Belgium top picks could be crucial for managers. Knowing how a team has been performing recently can be helpful. But, knowing who the best picks from each team can be essential for the tournament ahead.

The 2022 World Cup wasn’t a great one for Belgium. After winning just one of their matches they crashed out of the tournament to finish in third place.

Belgium had to bounce back from their World Cup disappointment and they did that in their latest Nations League campaign as we can see below. They did however finish six points behind Netherlands and just three points ahead of Poland.

Belgium continued their solid run of form in their EURO 2024 Qualifiers. They finished one point above Austria to cement first place in the Group.

In terms of numbers, during the Qualifiers Belgium won six, drew two and went unbeaten. They also racked up a huge 22 goals, averaged 2.8 goals scored per game, conceded just four goals and kept an impressive five clean sheets.

Belgium played two friendlies after their recent Qualifiers, drawing them both. In their last 10 matches in all competitions however Belgium won six and drew four, remaining unbeaten.

EURO 2024 Fixtures

Belgium arguably have one of the easiest Groups in the competition. They start off their journey with a game against Slovakia who have failed to qualify for a World Cup since 2010. They have also shown mixed form recently which is concerning coming into a major tournament.

They then go onto face Romania who played their most recent World Cup in 1998. The last time they Qualified for the EURO’ was in 2016 of which they claimed just one point. Romania also failed to win any of their last three friendlies.

Belgium end their campaign with a meeting against Ukraine, arguably their toughest opposition so far. Ukraine finished their Qualifying Group level on points with Italy but fell short due to their head-to-head record. Ukraine also recently held hosts Germany to a 0-0 draw even with a strong starting XI.

Top Picks – Wout Faes

Belgium have been brilliant defensively as of late – keeping a huge five clean sheets in just eight EURO 2024 Qualifying matches, as mentioned above. They also conceded just four goals there which averages at 0.5 goals conceded per game.

When looking at the Belgium options at the back, the likes of left-back Arthur Theate (€4.5m) and Timothy Castagne (€5m) could also great picks. However the cheapest and most reliable route into the defence is Wout Faes (€4m).

Faes isn’t just nice and cheap, he also netted twice in Premier League club Leicester’ promotion winning season. As well as registering an assist in his EURO Qualifying matches Faes also sustained an average of 6.0 ball recoveries per game which can significantly boost his potential to points. If that wasn’t enough, when comparing all of the Belgium defenders during the Qualifiers Faes edged all of his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement (0.68).

Kevin De Bruyne

Belgium’ 22 goals and 2.8 goals scored per game in Qualifying makes them extremely appealing when factoring in their Group.

With the above in mind it could be worth dipping into their midfield. Their standout midfield option is of course Kevin De Bruyne (€9.5m). De Bruyne missed out on most of his country’ Qualifiers due to injury but after recovering, he should be raring to go.

De Bruyne also missed the majority of his clubs title winning season. In the 18 Premier League matches he did start however De Bruyne hit a huge four goals and 10 assists. The 32-year-old also takes the majority if his sides set pieces which increases his potential to return. A full fit Kevin De Bruyne eases into the EURO 2024 Fantasy top picks.

Romelu Lukaku

Belgium have three great fixtures to attack in the Group Stage and none of their attackers are as efficient as Romelu Lukaku (€9m).

Lukaku has had quite a turbulent domestic career over the last several years. From his short time at Chelsea to his career at Inter, Lukaku’ journey has ended up in Roma. With 13 goals and three assists there last season, Lukaku’ output seems to be on the decline.

However, although dipping domestically Lukaku’ international form remains as relentless as ever. In fact in his eight Qualifying matches for Belgium he produced a huge 14 goals and one assist.

Lukaku goes into the EURO 2024 campaign in great form and with penalty duty in his back pocket, his appeal could be irresistible.

One to Watch – Leandro Trossard

There seems to be a lack of convincing mid-priced midfielder options in the game and that could become an issue. One player who fits that bill however is Arsenal man Leandro Trossard (€8m).

Trossard seems to finding his feet at Arsenal after his transfer from Brighton in January 2023. Although lacking in starts for club, Trossard still hit an impressive 12 goals and one assist, making a huge impact when needed and helping Arsenal to secure second place in the league.

Trossard seems to be slowly solidifying his position into Belgium’ first team. His two goals in four EURO Qualifying matches would have helped speed up that process.

Taking the above into account EURO Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Trossard.
