Scotland’ recent resurgence on the international stage started around the time of the 2022-2024 Nations league campaign. There they won four of their six matches against the likes of Ukraine and Ireland to secure promotion from Group B up to Group A.

However, for those looking for a more explosive defensive pick then Andy Robertson (€5.5m) stands out. Although more expensive than the other options mentioned, the Liverpool full-back plays in a right wing-back role for Scotland, giving him a more advanced position and thus a better chance of picking up an attacking return.

Robertson collected three goals and two assists in his recent Premier League campaign and we saw that same attacking threat in the two assists he created during the Qualifiers. With that and the addition of some corners, Robertson stands out as their best defensive option.

John McGinn

Scott McTominay

Scott McTominay (€6.5m) also wasn’t short of success as he contributed towards Manchester United’ FA Cup win against Manchester City. He also managed seven goals and one assist in the Premier League for the Reds.

Similar to McGinn, McTominay seems to offer a lot more offensively when playing for his country. Although quiet in the Nations League McTominay more than made up for it after bagging a huge seven goals and one assist in just eight EURO Qualifiers.

McGinn also takes a share in some set pieces which boosts his appeal, along with the fact he sustained a 4.8 average of ball recoveries in the EURO Qualifiers.
