Notes

  • Goalkeepers (and ‘keeperoos in particular) look tricky due to the fixture schedule and threat of rotation. Ideally, I’d probably roll with Roman Celentano on the front end and Zac MacMath as my fallback. However, as RSL have a tendency to rotate their goalkeepers in DGWs, I’ve currently opted for Joe Willis as my primary goalkeeper. He plays twice before my SGW fallback, Aljaž Ivačič, kicks off his game.
  • In defence, Justen Glad and Miles Robinson make my team, with RSL and Cincinnati both ranking highly for clean sheet odds this week and most likely to start twice for their respective clubs.
  • I also like Nashville’s chances of at least one clean sheet this week. So, I have paired Willis with Walker Zimmerman, providing he starts on Wednesday night. Xavier Arreaga, like Ivačič, is a SGW fallback for Zimmerman.
  • My final defensive pick is Kai Wagner. Philadelphia look somewhat off the boil defensively but Wagner continues to rack up bonus points and post excellent attacking numbers. Cincinnati play twice at home in Round 13, so naturally Lucho Acosta was one of the first names in my team. He is one yellow card from suspension though, so currently finds himself benched.
  • Elsewhere in midfield, Cristian Espinoza, Evander (if fit) and Hany Mukhtar all have the fixtures to do well this week. The fifth midfield spot is where we’re likely to see most variation. I’ve gone for Amine Bassi, who boasts an impressive floor, is on penalties and has two very winnable games this week, although Dániel Gazdag, Carlos Andrés Gómez, Robin Lod and Matías Rojas are all viable alternatives.
  • Upfront, Lionel Messi will be my captain, while Cristian Arango is also a lock. Although he, like Acosta, is also one yellow card from suspension. There are opportunities to differentiate with the third forward slot this week. I’ve gone with Christian Benteke, who continues to post insane xG+xA numbers (1.05 per game to date), but can also see Cucho Hernández, Sam Surridge (who boasts equally impressive offensive stats) and Luis Suárez (if he starts on Wednesday) being popular.

  • I always run a two scrub switcheroo in DGWs. I have it set up with Lucho and Chicho on my bench because they are both on Yellow Card Accumulation warnings. If they get a yellow card on Wednesday, they miss the second game.
  • Mukhtar is my other bench option because I don’t trust him to him as much as other players I have.
  • Cincy have the best CS odds this week so I am going Celentano to Robinson.
  • Even though both Miami and Philly have been poor defensively, Wagner and Freire both collect a ton of bonus points which will be good to have two games back to back.
  • Wagner can also easily be involved in any Philadelphia goals.
  • I like the fixtures for Evander and Espinoza, but I have Puig because of his floor. He could easily score anywhere between 10-14 points without a goal involvement. Other mids I am considering are Hector Herrera and Driussi.
  • My third forward spot is a bit tricky this week. I like Benteke and Carranza and while I have the latter, I’m not quite sure who I will commit to yet.
  • And of course, captain Messi all the way.

Notes

  • CLT double defense with Kahlina and Uronen really helped me gain ground last week.
  • I am sticking with Kahlina, adding Malanda over Uronen as I can see Uronen maybe sharing time in one game.
  • I’m adding Agyemang as he will lead the line until a summer sub is found and allows money to spend elsewhere.
  • I will go Triple Miami attack with Rojas.
  • I have lots of money in the bank with one scrub so putting that scrub in midfield.
  • I can scrub Rodrigues for SJ if two bench go wild in the 730s.
  • It is tougher to play bench games in these straight double gameweeks.

Notes

  • DEF: Kai Wagner (PHI; 9.2) has scored seven or more points in four of his last seven outings, averaging 4.7 fantasy points per game over that span. He flashed his attacking upside with a stunning goal to equalize late in Atlanta few weeks back, and with the possibility of a clean sheet at home against NYC and away vs NE this dgw, the German fullback is in prime position to come away with another hefty point haul. He has an opportunity to produce both attacking and defensive points.
  • MID: Luciano Acosta (CIN; 14m); Luciano Acosta has scored or assisted in eight of his last nine appearances, and a DGW with two home games plants the 2023 Landon Donovan MVP winner back at the top of the heap this round.
  • FOR: Messi (MIA; 14M) and Suarez (MIA; 13.6); In Miami’s 6 2 thumping of the New York Red Bulls in Round 11, Lionel Messi produced video game like performances, leading all scorers with an astounding 28 fantasy points. With 22 points, strike partner Luis Suárez was not far behind, demonstrating that both forwards should be given careful thought regardless of the opponent.
