Community Team Reveal Gameweek 36 – Ryan (Football Chatbox)

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 36, it’s the turn of Ryan (Football Chatbox) to tell us what he is doing to his team.

Hi Ryan and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 35 go?

Written before the Chelsea v Spurs clash, it looks set to be an alright start for my Gameweek 35 Wildcard. Unfortunately, I benched Josko Gvardiol’s 15 points, which could have made it an amazing week. I’m currently ranked at 191k before tonight, where Palmer is captain, so there’s a chance to rise a bit more and edge close to the final top 100k target.

What does your defence look like?

I went with a double Arsenal defence via Gabriel and David Raya purely because there aren’t many impressive options available. This week looks good, although I might have to sell one of them ahead of Double Gameweek 37.

Alongside this duo is Gvardiol and Dan Burn, with Diogo Dalot and Pedro Porro benched as I don’t expect them to keep a clean sheet.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

This is where I’ve got a really big benching dilemma. After discussing this with many managers, I’m still not fully sure what to do. I currently have Son Heung-min on the sidelines, with Anthony Gordon and Bruno Fernandes starting.

Much has been said about Gordon’s poor away form, only twice ending with attacking returns. However, he’s facing Burnley, who are poor at set pieces and crosses – something he takes a lot of.

Meanwhile, Son faces a Liverpool team that hasn’t kept a clean sheet since Gameweek 27 despite their underlying defensive numbers still looking decent. Deciding between these two is tough and then there’s Bruno Fernandes. He’s recently been brilliant and created a plethora of chances that haven’t been finished by Man United team-mates. As we’ve seen in Gameweeks 33 and 34 how high his points ceiling is, I don’t really want to demote him.

So it’s either Son or Gordon and the choice might not be made until the deadline. The only thing that can change things is if Phil Foden is still unwell, meaning I can bench him instead.

My forward line is pretty straightforward with Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak joined by the differential punt of Ollie Watkins. I just need to decide whether to keep or sell him before Gameweek 37.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 36 and beyond?

I plan to roll this week’s free transfer in order to have two for Double Gameweek 37. One will potentially move a defensive Arsenal asset to someone like Andre Onana, Guglielmo Vicario or, if fit, Malo Gusto.

As mentioned, there’ll also be a decision on Watkins. I’ll wait to see which Double Gameweek forward seems best and then possibly sell the Aston Villa star for this Bench Boost.

In Gameweek 38, I’m probably buying an Arsenal midfielder like Kai Havertz and will try a crazy differential captain if I need to gain lots of rank.

Finally, what about captaincy?

This week has the same armband mentality, as I’m chasing both rank and mini-leagues. It’s on Isak at the moment but it could still become Palmer. I’ll decide after Chelsea v Spurs.

Palmer’s numbers are great, he’ll be playing at home and West Ham’s defensive numbers have recently been awful.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
