Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 31?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 31.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 31

With little time to dwell on Gameweek 30 before Tuesday’s next deadline, it’s interesting to see that four of last time’s six names were on the weekend scoresheet.

Luis Diaz made it four goals and three assists in eight matches, whilst Dominic Solanke netted from his only shot against Everton. Tuesday night brings his fourth consecutive home game.

Despite Beto equalising for the Toffees, a late own goal brought victory for Bournemouth.

Ranked by xG

The early kick-off brought a classic 4-3 from St James’ Park. When Mohammed Kudus‘ strike helped West Ham build up their 3-1 lead, it ended a nine-game goalless streak for the Ghanaian. He gets plenty of shots inside the box, so owners will be hoping it opens the door for more.

Yet the fruitless spell for Ivan Toney has reached six matches, failing to score from nine shots versus Man United. His explosive return from long-term suspension saw four goals from five but such poor form is putting off managers who would’ve otherwise been attracted to his upcoming fixture run.

Just as strange is Erling Haaland‘s below-par situation. Consecutive blanks mean it’s two goals from six, at a time when Wildcard users are wondering whether he’s worth the huge price tag. But he’s still racked up the most big chances (11) of everyone in this half-dozen period.

Finally, Raheem Sterling, whose Chelsea starting spot is no longer for certain. He came on to assist against Burnley but, incredibly, has never scored in any of his 25 meetings with Thursday’s opponents Man United.
