FPL: Players on International Duty

It’s international break time, which means one thing on this site: it’s time for our look at which Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are away with their respective countries.

There were one or two matches taking place on Wednesday but the action begins in earnest on Thursday.

There’s a mix of friendlies, FIFA World Cup qualifiers and UEFA European Championship playoffs on the schedule.

Well over 200 players from the Premier League will be on show so there’ll be a nervous wait to see if any injuries or illnesses are picked up ahead of Gameweek 30.

In this article, we bring you all you need to know about your globe-trotting FPL stars.

ANY LATE RETURNEES?

Players contesting fixtures in the Americas are generally the last ones back through the door at their respective clubs. As a result, they are often the biggest concerns for starts or game-time in the following Gameweek.

But this time, there are fewer nations in action in North or South America.

Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay are all among the countries in friendly action in Europe. So, no late returns or long-haul flights back for them.

Argentina are the only nation of Fantasy note who are in action in the Americas in the early hours of next Wednesday morning:

Even then, late returns sometimes have little bearing on the subsequent Gameweek. Julian Alvarez (£6.5m) lasted 90 minutes in Manchester City’s first games back after the September, October and November international breaks.

City and Liverpool aren’t in action until Sunday 31 March, too, so there’s more recovery time than usual.

NON-EUROPEAN NATIONS: WHERE AND WHEN THEY’RE PLAYING

Many of the other names in the above table will be of zero concern when it comes to Gameweek 30 fatigue or jetlag.

Son Heung-min (£10.1m) has to travel to Asia for two World Cup qualifiers but South Korea contest their final match at 12.30pm (UK time) on Tuesday in Thailand.
