Community Team Reveal Gameweek 27 – Marc Jobling

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 27, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 26 go?

A second successive red arrow, unfortunately. It was expected, as a hit was needed to just reach 10 men, but not to that extent where it undid quite a few previous rises. Just 47 points, going down from 33k to 40k to 57k.

The hit caused part of this, as did the streak of unlucky transfers that sold Jarrod Bowen for Diogo Jota in Gameweek 24 – the latter is now injured – before some Dominic Solanke switches. I sold him for Darwin Nunez when the former scored 12 points at Newcastle and the Uruguayan was injured by quarter-time of Double Gameweek 25.

My four-point hit quickly reversed that transfer, alongside going for Hwang Hee-chan over Bowen. Naturally, Bowen bagged a hat-trick and the two new names are hurt.

What does your defence look like?

Another contribution to the recent decay is my defensive problems. I refuse to ever spend four points on buying one, especially when clean sheets seem so scarce.

But Pedro Porro and Ezri Konsa have been injured, Pervis Estupinan is out of favour and the goalkeeping combination of Alphonse Areola and Martin Dubravka has been horrific. Additionally, Charlie Taylor had the issue of being both hurt and a Burnley player.

Not sure who I’d want, though. Virgil van Dijk’s goal would’ve been good but Pep Roulette is already back for Man City’s back line.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

I’m pleased with this week’s attacking fixtures, though. To the point where Hwang’s midweek injury furthers the Gameweek 26 hindsight pain but actually solves an immediate benching dilemma

I think the Solanke, Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins remain the ultimate forward line and I regret straying from it, even if the logic was strong. It would’ve been Richarlison on the sidelines, if not for Hwang, but Crystal Palace at home has real potential.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 27 and beyond?

Mohamed Salah for Phil Foden was being considered before this week but that’s gone cold. It’s interesting to see other content creators join my plan – the one all along – of Free Hit 29, knowing this template squad has strong fixtures surrounding it. Wildcard is to be used around Gameweek 33, probably.

It means these next transfers can now be anything, not restricted to West Ham, Aston Villa and Brentford assets. I might even roll this one but it depends on what we hear about Konsa, Porro and Estupinan.

The latter two play straight after the Gameweek deadline, so I’m hoping for team leaks that at least one of them is starting. As for Konsa, he’s back in training and Aston Villa need defensive bodies.

If bad luck continues and I need to make a late transfer, I’m thinking of a Double Gameweek 28 name like Marcos Senesi or Alfie Doughty. Possibly someone from Crystal Palace.

Finally, what about captaincy?

There’s such a strong case to be made for Bukayo Saka. Outstanding form in a rampant, free-scoring team, away to the last-placed team who regularly lose 5-0. Watkins at Luton, too.

However, it’s still going to be Haaland. His five midweek goals were devastating and he has a brilliant record versus Man United.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
