The Options – Darwin Nunez
Liverpool have two fixtures this week which means their players could have two opportunities to return points. In their last six Gameweeks the Reds have won an impressive five times, losing just once. In the same period they also sit top for goals (18), the best for total attempts on goal, first for shots in the box, second for big chances total and first shots on target total.
Brentford and Luton lay ahead. The former have conceded between 2-3 goals in a huge seven of their last 10 matches. The latter have also been poor defensively this season – ranking amongst the worst three teams for several key metrics. Both sides have shown huge defensive fragilities this season which suggests they are teams to target.
One player who continues to both impress and excite is Darwin Nunez (£7.6m). Overall form shows Nunez is having a fantastic campaign – hitting eight goals and seven assists in 23 matches. More recently he also collected a return in five of his last six games. When focusing on his recent data Nunez ranks first for non-penalty expected goal involvement, second for total attempts, first for shots in the box and second best for big chances total.
Erling Haaland
Manchester City are another side with a Double Gameweek this week. The current Champions are in a formidable run of form – winning all of their last 10 matches in all competitions. In their last six matches they rank third best for goals scored, second best for total attempts, third best for shots in the box and second best for shots on target.
Chelsea are one of the teams Manchester City face next. The Blues have shown huge inconsistencies all season and have conceded a huge nine goals in their last three matches. Combined with Brentford’ defensive fragilities mentioned above, both could be good fixtures to target.
So far this season Erling Haaland (£1.4m) has accumulated a huge 16 goals and five assists in just 18 matches. Prior to his injury Haaland was dominating most of the key offensive metrics amongst all players. Since returning from injury, in his last three games he also picked up two goals and one assist.
Who is the best captain for Gameweek 25?
This week looks very straight forward in terms of captaincy. Darwin Nunez has maintained brilliant underlying offensive data recently, plays for one of the best attacking units in the league and has great recent form. However, not only does the return of key players from injury reduce his minutes but his conversion rate is well below that of Erling Haaland.
Taking the above into account, the best captaincy option for Gameweek 25 is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian usually maintains an elite conversion rate, takes penalties, and leads the deadliest attack in the division.
