Serie A Fantasy Round 22 Top Picks

Round 21 saw wins for Roma, Milan, Frosinone, Empoli and Genoa. We also saw Juventus continue their title challenge with a 3-0 win over Lecce. Now we look to our expert @FPL_Crisk as he provides us with the Serie A Fantasy Round 22 top picks.

Before we take a look at who makes the cut this week, we need to highlight how important this article could be for managers. Knowing who the Serie A Fantasy Round 22 top picks are could be hugely beneficial when it comes to mini-league position and overall rank. That is because it can help with things like transfers and captaincy.

Goalkeepers – Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (€6.0m – 14.2%)

Torino are well rested after blanking in Round 21. They now travel to Cagliari who do not have the worst underlying stats, but really lack quality in attack, resulting in a finishing underperformance. I expect clean sheet points and also a couple of save points for the Serbian goalie.

Wojciech Szczesny (€5.4m – 30.0%)

He’s a much cheaper way into Juventus’ defence than Bremer and Danilo, so I get why his ownership is so high (even more than Sommer). Empoli destroyed Monza (new manager bounce and all) but I doubt they will repeat that performance at the Allianz Stadium.

Defenders – Gianluca Mancini (€5.8m – 13.3%)

He returns from suspension against the worst attacking team in the league, and we’ll also be profiting from the new manager bounce. I have no doubts he is nailed on to start, and he’s probably the safest Roma pick from now on.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€7.0m – 43.9%)

Lazio away is a tough fixture, but he’s on this list mostly based on my gut instincts. Napoli have just undergone a change in formation, now playing in a 3-4-3. Di Lorenzo has been used at RCB, but this week the RWB Mazzocchi appears to be injured, giving Di Lorenzo the opportunity to play wider and higher up the pitch, in the same position where he had his breakthrough season at Empoli.

Midfielders – Matias Soule (€4.8m – 15.5%)

Many will still have him in the team after last week, as he was one of the best players for the blank Round. With his fixtures getting much worse real soon, this could be the last time for him to leave a mark in our teams (definitely for mine). This is not a goodbye, but a see you later.

Paulo Dybala (€12.0m – 15.2%)

A shadow of his last season’s self, always crippled by injuries. Reports say he will be back next week against Salernitana, and if it’s so, I expect him to pull his weight and not let us down again. The potential for a big haul is there.

Forwards – Dusan Vlahovic (€9.8m – 34.0%)

His price and his ownership are growing week by week. Six goals, two assists in his last five games, he’s the player in form. I don’t know if he can keep this up for the rest of the campaign, but I’m very happy because it forces players to decide whether to double up on Juve’ defence or punt on Dusan, as there are not as many good forwards as defenders.

Lautaro Martinez (€11.6m – 66.0%)

Look who’s back. Not only does he remain the highest scoring player in the game, but he hasn’t missed a bit during the blank round, gifting his team the Italian Super Cup. Calhanoglu is suspended, so he will be on penalties too. Add the 15-points haul he had in the reverse fixture, and you can see why I think he’s a very viable captaincy pick.
