Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 21?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 21.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four Gameweeks:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Many of the Gameweek 20 names have disappeared for various reasons. Both Alexander Isak and Julian Alvarez netted to make it consecutive goals and therefore too many for this list.

Cameron Archer was merely a substitute for Sheffield United’s trip to Man City, with Eddie Howe responding to fan calls by benching Miguel Almiron at Liverpool.

As for Brighton teenager Jack Hinshelwood, he’s on two goals from six games but sits just short on xG.

Meanwhile, two names stay put – Pascal Gross and Anthony Elanga. The Seagulls have a brilliant run of upcoming fixtures and Gross, helped by set-pieces, has racked up one goal and five assists from his last eight outings. Although he ultimately blanked in last week’s West Ham game, the 0.76 xGI suggested unluckiness.

Elanga is impressing under Nottingham Forest’s new management with a goal and three assists over the most recent trio.

Naturally, Darwin Nunez‘s goalless game against Newcastle sees him return to his spiritual home. Liverpool’s total xG of 7.27 was a Premier League record and 1.67 of this belonged to the Uruguayan, with eight shots and five on target. He and team-mate Cody Gakpo have a Mohamed Salah-sized hole to fill over the next month.

The final names belong to Arsenal. Gabriel Jesus was benched for the Fulham defeat but Bukayo Saka scored the opener.
