Gameweek 18 Best Wildcard Team
We look at the Gameweek 18 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.
The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.
Fixture ticker
Below we can see that the fixtures ticker covers the next six Gameweeks (from Gameweek 18-23).

Gameweek 18 Best Wildcard Team
Goalkeepers
Newcastle sit joint first in the league for clean sheets so far this campaign so investing in their defence is key. Martin Dubravka (£4.2m) is one of the cheapest and most reliable ways into the backline. Backing Dubravka up is Robert Sanchez (£4.7m). He is the most reliable route into a Chelsea side who have great fixtures ahead. He also rotates with Dubravka around tough fixtures well. Sanchez is nursing a knock but is expected to return very soon.
Defenders
Another great route into a Chelsea defence with good fixtures is Levi Colwill (4.6m). The Englishman scored in one of his most recent matches.
Tottenham also have a great schedule with good opportunities to keep clean sheets. Full-back Pedro Porro (£5.5m) offers much more than clean sheets however. He has managed to create four assists in his last league matches and leads all other defenders for key attacking metrics.
Aston Villa come up against some of the worst attacks in the league in their matches coming up. Because of that investing in their cheap enabling defenders could be beneficial. Centre-back Pau Torres (£4.7m) is the most reliable route into the defence in the terms of gametime. Torres suffered a minor injury in the most recent round so if confirmed out we could move to teammate Ezri Konsa (£4.5m).
Liverpool have racked up the joint second most clean sheets this season so far. With that, buying into their backline could be a good move. Kostas Tsimikas (£4.9m) has proven to be very creative since filling in for the injured Andy Robertson – bagging three assists in under 700 minutes of gametime.
Arsenal have some fantastic fixtures after the game against Liverpool this week. They also sit joint first for clean sheets so far. One of the cheapest and most reliable routes into the defence is centre-back Gabriel (£4.9m).
Midfielders
Chelsea have maintained one of the best expected goals this season but also sit highly on the fixture ticker. The most effective way into the Chelsea attack is Cole Palmer (£5.5m) who takes penalties but banked two attacking returns from open play in the last game.
Anthony Gordon (£6.2m) is the best way into a Newcastle attack that sit second best for expected goals and top for big chances total this season. Gordon has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the game so far and has good fixtures ahead.
Liverpool may have questionable fixtures long ahead but they are dominating a lot of the key attacking metrics so far. Because of that their standout attacker and penalty taker Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) could be a great inclusion.
Tottenham also rank in the top teams for several attacking metrics and they have a great schedule ahead. Leading the attack is of course Son Heung-Min (£9.8m). He takes his sides penalties and has collected a huge five double-digit hauls this campaign making him one of the most explosive assets in FPL.
Manchester United have a great schedule ahead and one player who seems to be performing well and starting matches is winger Alejandro Garnacho (£4.8m). He has manged two returns in his last five matches. Some managers may prefer a cheap Brighton attacker as they sit top of the fixture ticker. The cheapest and most reliable route into the frontline is Simon Adingra (£5m). Adingra managed a 10-point return in one of his recent matches.
Forwards
One obvious absence is that of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£13.9m). In this draft there is enough money (£7m in the bank) to bring the Norwegian back in when his next fixture arrives in Gameweek 19.
Bournemouth have won four of their last five matches but they are also producing some brilliant underlying attacking data. The focal point and penalty taker in the Cherries frontline is Dominic Solanke (£6.8m).
Aston Villa are one of the most in-form teams as of late and they come up against all three promoted sides in the run ahead. Because of that and his superb consistency this season Ollie Watkins (£8.6m) could be an essential.
Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo (£4.6m) could be a great option to bring in off the bench looking ahead.
No Salah
Some could be debating not owning Salah in the period ahead due to fixtures and recent form. This could allow the inclusion of the likes of Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier (£6.9m), Arsenal midfielder Bukayo Saka (£9m) and maybe even upgrading Garnacho to the likes of Aston Villa midfielder Leon Bailey (£5.6m).
We caught up with the FPL experts to see who they have been targeting for the run ahead here.
