Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 14 Expert Picks and Team Reveal

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we take a look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 14 expert picks and team reveal. @FPLGunnersaurus joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 14 expert picks and team reveal can help hugely for the round ahead.

Introduction

Matchday 14 brings with it the toughest round of fixtures so far. Most popular assets are entangled in a difficult match up where we see the likes of Frankfurt vs Bayern, Dortmund vs Leipzig and Stuttgart vs Leverkusen. This could be a matchday for the differentials so without further hesitation let’s get into it…

Top Picks – Defenders – Mitchell Weiser (10.6m / 3% TSB / SVW)

With the premium defensive assets all having a tough fixture this matchday I turn to a fantasy favourite from last season. Werder Bremen host Augsburg and it’s only because it’s a home game that I recommend Weiser for MD14. Away from Weserstadion Bremen are winless but at home they fare slightly better, having won three.

There are no statistics to justify this pick and with Bremen’s expected goals at home metric sitting in the worst five it’s the heart tempting me to bring him in, not the head. With a goal and three assists so far it’s clear to see Weiser still has those attacking returns in him but will we see another one added against Augsburg?

Robin Gosens (11.4m / 3% TSB / FCU)

Well rested after Union Berlin’s MD13 game was called off and with a home game against a side who are expected to concede the most goals away from home surely it’s time for Gosens and company to pick up their first win since MD2. Die Eisernen host a Gladbach side whose xGA away stat of 2.11xGA suggest they should concede at least twice per game on the road.

I say it every time I suggest him but Gosens knows where the goal is having scored four times so far this season. The Foals have conceded 3+ goals in five of their away games so far and the Stadion An der Alten Försterei will be in full voice and rocking looking for that new manager bounce victory.

Pavel Kadeřábek (7.2m ON-SALE / 1% TSB / TSG)

I’m now scraping the bottom of the differential barrel but Kadeřábek could be a clever pick for MD14. The Czechia international started the season well with 36 points across his first four games but has since been in and out of the squad with various niggles.

Back in the team in their away loss to Gladbach he’s looking likely to start in their next game at home to Bochum. All bar one of Hoffenheim’s six wins have come away from the Rhein-Neckar-Arena but in hosting Bochum boss Pellegrino Matarazzo will be looking for nothing but a victory. Playing essentially as a right-winger and behind the in-form Weghorst brave managers could be rewarded with this shrewd on-sale purchase.

Midfielders – Marco Richter (8.4m / 1% TSB / M05)

The only differential from the midfield picks this week but one I am strongly inclined to bring in myself. With 30 points from his last two games the German left-midfielder looks to be on a hot streak. Despite a 1-0 home loss to Freiburg Richter scored nine points, with six points for goal attempts, in a game I thought Mainz deserved a point from.

Prior to that on MD12 he returned 21 points in a 1-1 away draw against Hoffenheim, scoring plus racking up a huge 12 points for goal attempts. Die Nullfünfer travel to Köln in bottom of the table clash and will be hoping to come away with the three points. If Mainz are to win Richter will surely play a part.

Xavi Simons (16.5m / 55% TSB / RBL)

A number of managers, including yours truly, sold the Dutchman for MD13 after the uncertainly that surrounded his status following a shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League. Simons did start however and as he does at home he returned well with 12 points in the fantasy game. Although Leipzig’s, and Simons’ for that matter, away form is a bit ‘50/50’ (having won three and lost three) I fancy Leipzig to get a result away to Dortmund.

Die Schwarzgelben have conceded half of their goals at home with eight of those coming across their last four at Signal Iduna Park. Simons will be looking to bring his home form with him and star for Die Roten Bullen.

Jan-Niklas Beste (8.9m / 27% TSB / HDH)

After five consecutive double-digit returns at home Beste bombed in Heidenheim’s last home game picking up a measly two points in a 0-0 draw against Bochum. That is not enough though to prevent me from bringing him back in and potentially placing the star on him when Heidenheim host the other promoted club in Darmstadt.

Darmstadt have conceded the most goals in the Bundesliga having shipped 34, 15 at home and 19 away. All of Heidenheim’s three victories have come at home this season and although it’s a close call I expect Heidenheim to win this one, purely down to the attacking quality at their dispense. Beste best be back to his double-digit best or this manager might start to hold a grudge.

Forwards – Jonas Wind (12.9m / 7% TSB / WOB)

As is always the case in a fantasy game players never perform when you bring them in and only when you ship them out. That has been the case with Wind for me and in the last two games the Dane has punished me with one goal, two assists and a total of 25 points in Bundesliga Fantasy. With striker spots wide open this matchday given the tough round of games a home game for the Wolves against Freiburg looks like a good fixture to target.

Prior to their 1-0 MD13 away win at Mainz the Black Forest club had lost three away games on the bounce, conceding eight goals. With nine goals and three assists the Dane could be adding to his tally on MD14.

Ermedin Demirović (11.5m / 2% TSB / FCA)

Whisper it quietly but Augsburg are going under the radar having not lost in their last six games. With three wins and three draws in that time they find themselves up to ninth and are starting to show the form which could see them push for a surprise European place.

Demirović has been leading the charge with seven goals and five assists so far. In fact the Bosnian international has provided an attacking return in three consecutive games now and will be looking to make it a fourth in an away game against Bremen. I mentioned earlier Bremen sit fifth worst for xGA at home, expected to concede 1.5 goals per game. Expect Demirović to try and capitalise on that.

Tim Kleindienst (9.3m / 2% TSB / HDH)

With a home game against the worst defence in the league and expected to concede at least twice away from home I had to pick Kleindienst. The top scorer from the 2. Bundesliga last season has five goals and two assists to his name so far this season and like Beste tends to perform better at home.

His season high score this season came at home on MD4 providing three attacking returns in a 20 points haul which saw his club defeat Bremen 4-2. Against the proverbial whipping boys in Darmstadt Kleindienst’s mouth will be drooling and will be looking to bolster his goal tally.
