Introduction
The first midweek match days are taking place and the busy festive period is underway! I’m writing this week’s piece after Wednesday’s matches, please excuse any big news from Thursday night being ignored!
GW14 & 15 Review
The first part of the match week, GW14 in FPL terms, started off slowly with Saliba (C) conceding while many managers had captained Saka for his goal and shot tier. On Sunday, I decided to transfer out Nick Pope after his seemingly serious shoulder injury. I went for Robert Sanchez – giving Chelsea captaincy cover for the Christmas Eve single game day. Despite Ollie Watkins’ hauling, returns were in short supply elsewhere. Salah and Haaland were quiet while Tsimikas, Sanchez and Groß couldn’t better three points.
On Tuesday, the frustration continued with Saka captainers again outscoring Saliba as Arsenal conceded three at Luton. At this stage, I was down to about 4.5K in the rankings.
However, my luck turned on Wednesday night action returned plenty of differential points. Rob Sanchez saved a penalty and Pascal Groß delivered a goal and assist. Better still, after being caught out by Tim Ream’s benching, I bought in Virgil Van Dijk for his 19 pointer! A goal, clean sheet, shot tier and passing tier took him to that total.
Overall, I’m up to 2.6K with Son (C), Bissouma and Bowen to play this evening (Thursday). Hopefully my good fortune can continue!

GW16 Transfers and Captains
The weekend ahead looks as straightforward as it gets! Captaincy wise, Salah (cry) and Haaland (lut) have good fixtures and we see the team sheet for both Liverpool and Man City. In the event of a surprise benching, Watkins (ARS) and Son (NEW) provide consistent alternatives.
After making three unplanned injury/suspension enforced transfers in recent weeks, I’m really hoping to get through the weekend unscathed and not make any moves.
However, for those managers who still haven’t got any Chelsea coverage for the single gameday coming up, their incredible fixture run starts on Sunday and you see the team. It looks like a good time to move for Sanchez, Silva or Colwill.
Thanks for reading and good luck for the upcoming gameweek. Remember to set your captains and plan your transfers ahead of another deadline on Saturday!
