Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 13?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 13.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least eight shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

The five names of last time have experienced mixed fortunes since. Both Ollie Watkins and Diogo Jota immediately removed themselves from this list of underachievement by netting, whilst Spurs duo Richarlison and James Maddison are now sidelined with injuries.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez is the one remaining name after another frustrating display for his 16.4% ownership. He’s ranked sixth for overall attempts (35) and joint-second for shots on target (16) but 15 individuals have bettered his four goals.

Sheffield United’s Oliver McBurnie is expected to recover from a groin injury ahead of Gameweek 13. It’s good timing too, with Bournemouth (h) and Burnley (a) up next for the Blades.

Over at Brentford, the FPL community has long discarded Neal Maupay as a serious asset worth considering but he’s cheap and has started their most recent two home matches – the venue of their next pair of outings.

Finally, it’s been a highly disappointing season so far for Marcus Rashford. Only one player has dropped further in price. Recent blanks against Luton, Fulham and Sheffield United mean he is without either a goal or assist since Gameweek 4, although a big chance has been registered in each of his last three appearances.
