Gameweek 13 Best Free Hit Team
With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 13 best free hit team.
The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.
Fixtures

Gameweek 13 Best Free Hit Team
Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 13:
Goalkeepers
- Alphonse Areola (£4.3m) – The likelihood of clean sheets this week seems low overall. Because of that investing as little as possible between the sticks seems like a good play. Areola comes in with a cheap price-tag and faces rock bottom Burnley next up so there is potential for a clean sheet.
- Lukasz Fabianski (£4.2m) – West Ham’ second choice goalkeeper could be the logical back-up this week in the unlikely event Areola does not feature.
Defenders
- Joachim Anderson (£5.1m) – Crystal Palace come up against Luton this week. The Hatters ranks as one of the worst in the league for shots on target which could suggest there is clean sheet potential. Anderson sits above all of his defensive teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement as well so has attacking potential.
- William Saliba (£5.4m) – Arsenal have been sustaining some of the best defensive data in the league this season. The safest route into the backline is the Frenchman. Saliba also scored in his most recent match so does have attacking potential.
- Harry Maguire (£4.3m) – Manchester United have a fixture against Everton this week which could indicate clean sheet potential for the Reds. The cheapest route into the defence is Maguire who has managed three returns in his last five games.
- Gabriel (£4.8m) – In the unlikely event that one of the defenders do not feature the Arsenal centre-back should step in.
- Julio Igor (£4.3m) – Igor has been favoured in the Brighton defence over the last several matches. However, he is very unlikely to feature for us and helps to enable funds elsewhere.
Midfielders
- Eberechi Eze (£6.1m) – Eze has proved to be a vital cog in the Crystal Palace attack this season. Since his return from injury he’s banked a return in both of his matches already. Eze has huge potential next up against a poor Luton defence.
- Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) – Bowen has scored in every single away game he’s featured in this season and he plays away again this week. Burnley are rock bottom and are conceding an average of 2.5 goals per game so Bowen has a great opportunity to extend his brilliant away record this week.
- Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) – Arsenal face Brentford this week who have conceded at least two goals in three of their last five matches. Saka could take advantage of that. So far Saka has returned at least once in nine of his 11 matches played showing fantastic consistency.
- Son Heung-Min (£9.7m) – Tottenham face Aston Villa in the round ahead who have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five league matches. Playing out of position up front is Son who has already racked up four double-digit hauls this season and takes his sides penalties.
- Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) – No player in the league has a better expected assists then the Manchester United talisman. He’s also scored in two of his last three matches in all competitions so could have huge confidence going into a game against Everton.
Forwards
- Erling Haaland (£14m) – Manchester City play at home this week, a place they are considerably stronger. The focal point and penalty taker in the attack is this man who has bagged a whopping eight goals and two assists in his last five matches.
- Dominic Solanke (£6.4m) – Bournemouth have a fixture against Sheffield United next who rank as the worst defence in the league. With that and the fact he managed two goals in his most recent match against Newcastle, Solanke could have bags of potential. He also takes his sides penalties which makes him even more appealing.
- Odsonne Edouard (£5.5m) – Leading the Crystal Palace frontline is Edouard who netted in his most recent match. He could be a fantastic first sub off the bench if any of the attackers fail to feature, especially with a match against Luton ahead.
