Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 12?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 12.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least 9 shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20

Due a goal in Gameweek 12

On a weekend of low FPL scores and high frustration, we saw Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Mohamed Salah all blank over matches against Bournemouth and Luton.

Other highly-owned assets adding to the astonishment were Darwin Nunez and Ollie Watkins.

Ranked by xG

Darwin racked up nine shots at Kenilworth Road, with three on target and three labelled as big chances. All were missed, with one particular sitter somehow put over the bar. The offside given to Salah would likely have been overturned, so Darwin’s owners had heads firmly in their hands at that howler. With an xG of 0.90, nobody underachieved by more.

Meanwhile, Watkins’ strong run of nine attacking returns from four matches is over. Heading into Gameweek 10, the Aston Villa forward had only blanked once but it’s now two in a row versus Luton and Nottingham Forest.

Eberechi Eze had been due a goal while injured but, now back, his cameo return yielded no shots or xG figures – just an assist for Crystal Palace’s second goal.

Darwin’s team-mate Diogo Jota had one big chance that tested the Luton stopper, whilst Spurs duo James Maddison and Richarlison play tonight so currently have the same numbers as last week.
