Gameweek 10 Best Free Hit Team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 10 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Bournemouth and West Ham all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Manchester United, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Wolves all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.

Goalkeepers

Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) – West Ham have a match against Everton next whom have failed to score in more than half of their matches so far. Another contributing factor to Areola’ appeal is his enabling price-tag.

Matt Turner (£4.1m) – Turner is a cheap playing back-up to Areola. The Nottingham Forest goalkeeper will only feature in the unlikely event that Areola does not. He also helps to push funds elsewhere within the squad.

Defenders

Matty Cash (5.1m) – Aston Villa face one of the worst attacks in the league next in Luton. Because of that they have solid clean sheet potential. Cash does however offer multiple routes to points as he ranks first amongst defenders for non-penalty expected goal involvement.

Gabriel (£4.7m) – Gabriel is the cheapest and most reliable route into the Arsenal defence. The Gooners rank second best in the league for expected goals conceded (7.98) which shows they are sustaining a good defence. The clean sheet could easily come against the worst attack in the league next, Sheffield United.

Kieran Trippier (£6.9m) – Newcastle have now kept six clean sheets in their last eight matches in all competitions. They come up against Wolves which could mean clean sheet potential. However, Trippier doesn’t just offer that. The full-back has created an impressive seven assists in his last five matches.

Kostas Tsimikas (£4.5m) – Nottingham Forest are without main man Taiwo Awoniyi up front and also sit amongst the worst teams in the league for expected goals so far. With Andy Robertson out Tsimikas could be a great option on the bench just in case anyone fails to feature.

Dan Burn (£4.7m) – Burn has managed four returns in his last five league matches which shows how good the Newcastle defence is. Burn will likely stay on the bench but is a great option if needed.

Midfielders

Son Heung-min (£9.5m) – Tottenham sit first for several key attacking data points like shots on target, total attempts on goal and shots in the box. Because of that their standout attacking option Son Heung-min who takes his sides penalties and leads the attack could be a great pick.

James Maddison (£8.1m) – The biggest contributing factor towards Tottenham’ early success is this man. Maddison has managed five returns in his first eight matches. He also ranks in the top five players in the league for non-penalty expected goal involvement (5.16).

Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) – Arsenal continue to impress this season and their main man and penalty taker Saka has returned from injury. In the eight matches Saka has featured in so far he’s banked a return in a huge seven of them.

Gabriel Martinelli (£7.7m) – Doubling up on the Arsenal attack could be a hugely rewarding this week. Sheffield United sit as the worst ranked team in the league for goal conceded, shots in the box conceded, shots on target conceded and big chances conceded. With that and his goal upon returning from injury Martinelli could be a great pick.

Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – Brighton sit third best for goals scored so far (22) and amongst the top teams for other key attacking data points. They face Fulham next up so it could be a big opportunity for Mitoma to claim his third double-digit haul.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£14m) – Manchester City have a massive meeting with rivals Manchester United next up. The Reds have been poor defensively all season and who better to take advantage of that than Haaland who lead his frontline and takes his sides penalties.

Ollie Watkins (£8.3m) – Watkins currently sits as the second highest scoring player in FPL so far which shows how consistent he’s been. Watkins and his sides have won their last 11 matches at home and they play there against Luton this week.
