Gameweek 9 best wildcard
We look at the Gameweek 9 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.
The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.

Gameweek 9 best wildcard
Goalkeepers
- Matt Turner (£4.1m) – Nottingham Forest have been maintaining some solid defensive stats this season but their fixtures also rotate very well with West Ham’. Turner also enables funds elsewhere within the side moving forward.
- Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) – As mentioned with Turner the Hammers have a schedule that rotates well with Nottingham Forest so rotating the two cheap goalkeepers around them looks like it could be a good move.
Defenders
- Matty Cash (£5m) – Aston Villa have the best long-term fixtures so investing in their defence seems wise. Cash leads every other defender in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement, shots and shots in the box.
- Pedro Porro (£5.1m) – Tottenham are top of the table and are sustaining top form so investing in them could be hugely beneficial. In defence we could back Porro who sits as the third best defender for attempts on goal proving he has attacking threat.
- Kieran Trippier (£6.9m) – Newcastle have regained their 22/23 defensive form it seems and so has Trippier. The full-back looks unstoppable in terms of bonus and assist potential as of late, two things that made him the highest scoring defender in the game last season.
- Gabriel (£4.7m) – After some mixed fixtures Arsenal look like they are hitting a softer patch in the run ahead. The Brazilian is one of the cheapest and most reliable ways into an Arsenal defence sustaining great data.
- Tariq Lamptey (£4m) – The Brighton fixtures also ease soon and Lamptey helps to enable funds elsewhere within the side.
Midfielders
- Son Heung-min (£9.5m) – Tottenham continue their brilliant start to the season and still have some great fixtures over the next several games. Either way, Son is playing out of position, takes penalties and plays for a consistent attacking unit.
- James Maddison (£8.1m) – Tottenham aren’t just sitting in first place but they are also producing some of the best attacking data in the league. With that and the fact he has returned in five of his first eight matches Maddison makes the cut.
- Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) – Having Saka for the run ahead could be absolutely key. Not only does he take their penalties but he has also bagged four goals and two assists in seven league games so far which reflects his top form.
- Moussa Diaby (£6.6m) – Aston Villa face some of the worst defences in the league ahead so investing in their attack makes sense. One of their players we could look to is Diaby who plays out of position in an advanced role and has racked up a return in four of his first eight games.
- Jarrod Bowen (£7.3m) – West Ham sit second on the ticker in the next six matches and so it could be hugely beneficial to back their standout attacker Bowen. Bowen has also been featuring in a strikers role this season but he has also collected a return in five of his first eight games already.
Forwards
- Erling Haaland (£14m) – It could just be a matter time before the best team in the league start firing again and the Norwegian will be leading the line. Haaland has become one of the most explosive FPL assets in the game over the last year and he also takes penalties which gives him an additional route to points.
- Ollie Watkins (£8.2m) – No player has been as successful in FPL than this man this season. Watkins sits as the highest scoring player in the entire game after bagging four goals and four assists in his first eight.
- Dominic Solanke (£6.4m) – Some could even select Solanke in their line-up this week if they’d like. He is the focal point to the Bournemouth attack and takes his sides penalties. He could be a great option.
