Best FPL goalkeepers so far
Heading into our second international break of the season, here are the best FPL goalkeepers of the first eight Gameweeks.
MOST POINTS
By grabbing nine points in Saturday’s draw with Nottingham Forest, Sam Johnstone moved to joint-first alongside Fulham’s Bernd Leno.
Shortly behind are summer signings Guglielmo Vicario and Robert Sanchez.
MOST CLEAN SHEETS
Furthermore, Johnstone moved ahead to become the sole stopper on four clean sheets. His last three matches have all ended with at least eight points.
MOST SAVES
Although Wes Foderingham is way ahead of the rest on 45 saves, he only ranks as the 17th-best goalkeeper for points. That’s despite also being number one for save points (12).
What holds him back is Sheffield United’s lack of clean sheets, conceding at least twice in seven of the eight matches.
XG PREVENTED
Expected goals (xG) prevented compares the quality of shots on target faced with the actual number that ended in the back of the net.
Alphonse Areola began at a £4.0m price and is seemingly locked in as West Ham’s main keeper. With one clean sheet, a decent number of saves and the best prevention of xG, his ownership will increase beyond 34.7% for the Hammers’ strong fixture run. It begins in Gameweek 10.
Honourable mentions go to Bournemouth’s Neto and Wolves’ Jose Sa being amongst the best FPL goalkeepers.
