Gameweek 8 Best Free Hit Team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 8 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Fulham, Crystal Palace, Tottenham, Everton and Chelsea all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Arsenal, Manchester City, Brentford, West Ham and Brighton all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Goalkeepers

Bernd Leno (£4.7m) – Fulham sit at the top of the fixture ticker this week with a game against Sheffield United. The Blades rank amongst the worst teams in the league in terms of offensive stats. Leno ranks third for expected goals prevented as well and is sitting as the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game.

Matt Turner (£4m) – Turner continues to start for his side even with a new goalkeeper joining the club. He will only feature in the unlikely event Leno does not.

Defenders

Destiny Udogie (£4.8m) – Tottenham have a great defensive fixture against Luton up next as the Hatters sit worst in the division for shots on target (13). Udogie could have a great chance at the clean sheet but he also has very promising attacking threat.

Matty Cash (£4.8m) – Aston Villa also have a great chance of the clean sheet this week as they face Wolves. Cash doesn’t just offer clean sheet potential however, he sits first amongst all defenders for non-penalty expected goal involvement (3.66) so far.

Kieran Trippier – Newcastle have managed three clean sheets on the bounce so investing in the backline could be wise. No defender in the league has created more chances (22) or big chances (five) so far this campaign.

Joachim Anderson (£4.6m) – Sits as the second substitute. He ranks as the highest scoring defender in the game and is Crystal Palace’ most dangerous defender in terms of non penalty expected goal involvement.

Levi Colwill (£4.5m) – Chelsea rank the third best team in the league for expected goals conceded so far (6.37). The cheapest way into the backline is Colwill. He faces Burnley up next but it is highly unlikely he will feature.

Midfielders

James Maddison – Amongst all teams in the league Tottenham sit first for total attempts (138) and first for shots in the box (86). Taking their attacking form into account Maddison could be a great option who breaks into the top five players in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement (4.45).

Son Heung-min (£9.3m) – The in-form Tottenham frontline face a poor Luton next. Because of that Son could also be a fantastic option. Since playing in a forward role Son has returned in three of his four matches – with hauls of 14 and 20 points.

Eberechi Eze (£6.2m) – Crystal Palace play Nottingham Forest next up whom have conceded in all of their matches bar one this season. Eze takes his sides set pieces and penalties but amongst midfielders also ranks second best for attempts on goal (27).

Moussa Diaby (£6.7m) – Monitoring news of his recent knock will be key here. Aston Villa come up against a Wolves side conceding some concerning defensive stats. Diaby could be a great pick playing out of position up front. He has also managed four returns in his first seven matches.

Pedro Neto (£5.6m) – Wolves may not be convincing but this man is in top form. In fact so far Neto has bagged returns in all five of his last matches on the bounce. Neto will only feature if an attacker fails to.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£14.1m) – Manchester City continue to deliver some of the best attacking stats in the league and they face Arsenal next. Although tough Arsenal are still conceding goals in most matches and the relentless striker and penalty taker has big potential against any opponent in the game.

Ollie Watkins (£8m) – Aston Villa face a Wolves who rank amongst the worst five teams for shots in the box conceded and shots on target conceded. With that it is wise to back Watkins who has managed to return in every single game except one this season. He also banked a whopping 23-point return in his most recent match.

Darwin Nunez (£7.4m) – Liverpool are in great scoring form but a recent injury to Cody Gakpo and a suspension for Diogo Jota could mean plenty of gametime for Nunez. He ranks joint second amongst all forwards for big chances total so far (eight).
