Community Team Reveal Gameweek 5 – FPL Shake n Bake

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 5, it’s the turn of FPL Shake n Bake (Brett) to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Brett and thanks for the team reveal. So how did Gameweek 4 go?

I had my first red arrow of the season and dropped to around 750k despite my captain scoring a hat-trick! Apart from Erling Haaland, only Mohamed Salah, Kaoru Mitoma, Gabriel Martinelli and James Maddison exceeded two points. I had four players each with just one solitary point.

What does your defence look like?

I was fairly happy with my defence but I’m now looking at both goalkeepers potentially losing their first team spot. So I may need to make a change there.

Ahead of those, I have Chelsea duo Ben Chilwell and Malo Gusto, Arsenal centre-back William Saliba and Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa. They all have decent fixtures this week, causing me a bit of a benching headache.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

Some people are suggesting a Salah sale but his consistency reminds me of Harry Kane last year, so he’s not going anywhere. Another mainstay in my team is James Maddison. My thoughts on him are well-documented – I absolutely love the guy and he’s in excellent form since making the summer move to Spurs.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about team-mate Richarlison. I thought a £7.0m midfielder playing up front in a heavily attacking side would be FPL gold but he just hasn’t delivered. He’ll be making way this week.

Mitoma and Martinelli both get a stay of execution for now but, with so many midfield options performing, they could soon be on the move. Up front, I have Haaland (another one I’ve seen people mention going without in upcoming weeks, but I won’t be) and Nicolas Jackson, who I’m starting to lose patience with. He could be another I look to move out soon.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 5 and beyond?

I rolled my free transfer going into the international break, therefore I have two free transfers this week. One will be used to finally sell Richarlison. I wanted rid ever since Gameweek 1 but tried keeping faith with him.

In his place, I was stuck between two options – Eberechi Eze and Moussa Diaby. There’s not a huge difference, based on their underlying statistics, but the latter has had more output. Even though Eze has created more chances, Diaby is ahead for setting up big ones, so he gets the nod.

I think I will roll my second transfer, just to try and get more information on the goalkeeping situation. Matt Turner will get the nod in my line-up but, with rumours that he’ll be replaced as Forest’s number one, I could end up with Sam Johnstone in goal. And if he loses his place to Dean Henderson, I might be down to ten men!

Beyond that, there’s obviously been a lot of noise about Double Gameweek 7 but I’m ignoring it. Luton and Burnley players aren’t in my plans, I don’t see either team scoring lots of points that week, so I’d only end up taking a four-point hit to replace them straight afterwards.

Whilst I still have a Wildcard in my pocket, I’m not using it just for the chance to play Carlton Morris for one Gameweek!

Finally, what about captaincy?

Boring stock answer – Haaland. I went against him in Gameweek 2 and it worked but it’s horrible wanting one of your own players to blank. Plus, with his uncanny record of matching each week’s score with last year’s equivalent Gameweek, you can’t go against him when realising he scored a hat-trick in Gameweek 5 of last season. If he continues this trend, I’ll certainly be triple-captaining him in Gameweek 9!

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
