Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 expert picks and team

Last modified date

With a new round ahead, we look at Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 expert picks and team thoughts. @FPLGunnersaurus (Jay) joins us to give his top picks for the Matchday ahead whilst also sharing his squad going into the new round with his general thoughts.

Twitter is full of the most experienced fantasy football players around. Those managers can be some of the best people to look to when trying to gain clarity when making decisions within our teams. Checking out the Bundesliga Fantasy Matchday 3 expert picks can help hugely for the round ahead.

Top picks – Defenders – Alejandro Grimaldo (10.1m / 6% TSB / B04)

Frimpong (14.7m – 38% TSB) is a no-brainer this matchday but fantasy managers should also be looking at the other wing in Leverkusen’s defence. A favourite for those who played UCL Fantasy last season Grimaldo showed why Leverkusen picked him up in the summer with an assist and 14 points for anyone who already owned him. As like the midfield, you can definitely make a case for double defence here versus Darmstadt.

Robin Gosens (11.4m / 11% TSB / FCU)

Despite a tricky tie hosting Leipzig on MD3 Gosens is someone who should still be looked at after scoring twice and picking up 24 points in Bundesliga Fantasy in his full Bundesliga debut. Essentially playing as a wide forward Gosens could well do well again against Die Roten Bullen. Urs Fischer likes to rotate his full-backs as we all should know by now, so eyes peeled on those predicted starting line-ups again here.

Noussair Mazraoui (11.5m / 7% TSB / FCB)

With Pavard leaving (or having left by the time this is published) for Inter Milan the right-back position is Mazraoui’s to lock down. At only 11.5m the Moroccan is a fantastic cheap alternative to Davies (15.7m – 36% TSB) or you could pair them both up. Mazraoui has returned 22 points in Bundesliga Fantasy so far, without an attacking return. Munich travel to a leaky ‘Gladbach side so Mazraoui may get in on the act on MD3.

Notable Mentions

  • Davies (15.7m – FCB)
  • Frimpong (14.7m – B04)
  • Bensebaini (13.3m – BVB)
  • Max (10.4m – SGE)
  • Weiser (10.2m – SWV)
  • Hummels (9.4m – BVB)
  • Tah (8.4m – B04)
  • Jung (6.6m – SVW)

Midfielders – Florian Wirtz (14.7m / 27% TSB / B04)

The young German ace continues to prove why he’s being touted as Germany’s ‘next big thing’. With 10 key passes and an assist to match against Mönchengladbach on MD2 the midfielder returned 16 points in Bundesliga Fantasy. Up against Darmstadt next I’d expect Wirtz to haul once more. Pair him with Hofmann (15.7m – 14% TSB) and you could be in for some serious fantasy points on MD3.

Roland Sallai (9.4m / 13% TSB / SCF)

Sallai put in another great performance on MD2 in a home win against Bremen and was unlucky not to come away with a goal. The Hungarian returned big on MD1 with 19 points in Bundesliga Fantasy away to Hoffenheim, and on MD3 Freiburg travel to a Stuttgart side who were stuffed 5-1 by Leipzig on MD2. Just keep an eye on the predicted starting line-ups as Japanese star Doan could take his place.

Nathan Ngoumou (6.3m / 8% TSB / BMG)

Hear me out here. Yes, The Foals host Bayern Munich this coming matchday however you’ll have to go back to March 2019 for the last time the visitors picked up three points at Borussia-Park. Mönchengladbach away is a ‘bogey’ fixture for the champions. The home side may have lost key players over the summer but Ngoumou has stepped up. The Frenchman will have a part to play here if Munich’s away hoodoo is to continue.

Notable Mentions

  • Hofmann (15.7m – BMG)
  • Grifo (15.6m – SCF)
  • Kimmich (15.3m – FCB)
  • Brandt (14.1m ON SALE – BVB)
  • Doan (11.1m – SCF), Palacios (10.2M – B04)
  • Svanberg (8.6m ON SALE – WOB)
  • Götze (12.2m – SGE)

Forwards – Victor Boniface (12.6m / 12% TSB / B04)

The uncapped Nigerian who Leverkusen spent north of €20m on in the summer leads the way for forward picks on MD3. The arrival from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise recorded 11 shots and scored twice on MD2 against Mönchengladbach, picking up 23 points in Bundesliga Fantasy. Leverkusen host early whipping boys Darmstadt next and it’s hard to see anything but a landslide victory for Die Werkself here.

Jonas Wind (10.8m / 5% TSB / WOB)

With a brace in each of his first two games the Dane had to make the recommended list for MD3. Wind not only returns fantasy points for scoring goals but he’s also scoring points for passes to a shot and won duels, a real all round fantasy points scorer. The Wolves travel to face Hoffenheim who lost their opening day home fixture. Expect Wind and Wolfsburg to make Hoffenheim howl in another home defeat here.

Sven Michel (5.3m – 1% TSB – FCA)

If you’re looking for a super-differential striker and short on funds this matchday look no further than Augsburg’s Michel. At only 5.3m Michel has the fixture to challenge premium priced forwards on MD3 as Augsburg host Bochum. Used previously at Union Berlin as a super-sub Michel has locked down a starting berth and both scored and assisted on his home debut on MD1. At 1% owned, dare you take on the likes of Kane and Haller this MD?

Notable Mentions

  • Kane (15.8m – FCB)
  • Muani (15.4m – SGE)
  • Sané (14.6M – FCB)
  • Malen (14.4m – BVB)
  • Haller (14.2m – BVB)
  • Ducksch (10.9m – SVW)
  • Behrens (9.4m – FCU)
  • Fullkrug (14.1m – SVW)
