Best players for Gameweek 4

The new round of Premier League is ahead. With that in mind and with the help of Fantasy Football Scout, we have dug into the data and plucked out some of best player v team stats to reveal the best players for Gameweek 4.

Taking a look back at the head-to-head data to find some of the best players for Gameweek 4 could be really helpful to managers. Picking out assets who have great records against their upcoming opponent can help with transfers, captaincy and even chip strategy.

Jarrod Bowen v Luton

West Ham have had a really surprising start to the season. The Hammers have managed to dispatch both Chelsea and Brighton in the their last two matches 3-1. They come up against Luton next who have conceded seven goals in their first two games.

One player in particular has a great recent record against newly promoted sides. As we can see in the six matches Jarrod Bowen (£7m) played against them in 2021 he bagged five returns in five. Amongst those returns was four double-digit hauls, four goals and six assists.

James Maddison v Burnley

Tottenham will be hoping to continue their brilliant start to campaign this week against Burnley. The newly promoted side have been conceding some of the worst defensive stats already this season in comparison to Tottenham who have netted two in every game so far.

New signing James Maddison (£7.7m) has made a very big early impression after picking up 22 points in his first three games. When we look at his record against promoted clubs we can see that between 2018-2021 he played 23 matches and bagged 14 returns. His points were a result of seven goals and a massive 13 assists. With this in mind Maddison could have a big week against Burnley ahead.

Son Heung-min v Burnley

There could be bags of potential for the Tottenham attackers this week. This is because another of their players has an amazing recent record against promoted sides. Son Heung-min (£9m) has had a rough start to the season in that he has failed to pick up a single return so far.

Son may be out of form but he has the perfect opportunity ahead to improve this week. We can see that in the 18 matches he played against them between 2018-2021 he collected a return in 15 of them. His returns included 13 goals and seven assists.

Phil Foden v Fulham

Manchester City will be hoping they can make an easier game out of their Gameweek 4 opponents after a tightly contested 2-1 victory against Sheffield United in the recent round. They face a Fulham who have shipped six goals already this season.

One player who could bag back-to-back returns is Phil Foden (£7.6m). We can see that in the four matches Foden played against Fulham in 2021 he returned in three of them. Foden notched up two goals and one assist.

Marcus Rashford v Arsenal

Another player who could also do well this week is Marcus Rashford (£9m). He could be on thin ice with managers after returning just once in his first three matches. However, when we look at his 22/23 record against sides, it could be worth holding onto him.

Below we have ranked the top four players in the league last season for FPL points returned against the big six. We can also see that Rashford ranks second after amassing a huge 73 points last season with seven goals and two assists.
