Transfers and gossip up to July 31st
We catch up with some of the transfers and gossip up to July 31st, with the help of reputable sources such as Fabrizio Romano.
Following the media’s many transfers and gossip stories can be tiresome. The majority either fall through or have been tactically planted by one of the parties involved. Yet those that do come to fruition can have a huge effect on Fantasy Premier League, UCL Fantasy or even both.
Here are a few of the more interesting rumours from the last few days.
Transfers and gossip
David Raya (from Brentford to Arsenal)
Sunday brought the shocking rumour that Arsenal want to splash even more cash, this time by adding £40m-rated David Raya to their goalkeeping ranks.
As of now, Aaron Ramsdale is currently the second most-owned FPL stopper. He allows managers to cover Arsenal’s back line for a strong run of early fixtures if the likes of Gabriel or William Saliba can’t be squeezed in.
Entering the final year of his Brentford contract, it’ll still take a large fee to grab Raya. Too large to be a back-up, surely – does this mean a Ramsdale sale is being considered?
Both priced at £5.0m, its main FPL impact will be the rotation threat.
Robert Sanchez (from Brighton to Chelsea)
Another goalkeeper linked with a move is Brighton’s Robert Sanchez. After falling out of favour with Roberto De Zerbi, this transfer would neither improve the security of Jason Steele’s starts nor seriously threaten Kepa Arrizabalaga’s spot.
However, if Sanchez does end up displacing his fellow Spaniard, it’d be another season where Chelsea have a £4.5m starting stopper.
Matheus Franca (from Flamengo to Crystal Palace)
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s first move since the departure of club legend Wilfried Zaha is a bit of a coup. 19-year-old Brazilian attacker Matheus Franca is having a medical on Monday after a £26m fee was agreed with Flamengo.
His breakthrough campaign brought nine goals from 54 appearances, winning the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brazil. It gives Roy Hodgson an exciting option who can play across the front line and also in midfield.
Franca may even go straight into Palace’s starting XI whilst Michael Olise is injured.
Youssef Chermiti (from Sporting CP to Everton)
Sean Dyche is desperate for a new striker at Everton, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains a Gameweek 1 doubt and Neal Maupay continues to unimpress. He even started new arrival Arnaut Danjuma up front during Saturday’s friendly win at Stoke.
Yet Monday afternoon brought news from Fabrizio Romano that an agreement has been reached with Sporting CP for Youssef Chermiti. The 19-year-old has a towering 6ft 4in height but just 10 starts at senior level.
Therefore it’s unlikely that he’ll be an immediate starter for the Toffees.
