Best FPL Picks Per Club
Heading into the week where FPL officially starts with Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline getting those final decisions right will be key. Over the course of pre-season we have highlighted the best FPL picks per club. Here we round up who those picks are, and where to find out why.
The start of an FPL season always see’s a flurry of transfers in the build up to the first deadline. FPL managers will be trying to invest in as many of the best FPL picks per club as they can. Having an optimal team for the first deadline can enable managers to hold that first Wildcard longer. It can also mean that managers are able to hold their transfer through Gameweek 2. Doing this allows them to have two transfers for Gameweek 3 when more information will be available in terms of form and minutes.
Arsenal
Arsenal had a great campaign in 22/23, falling just short of winning the Premier League title. The likes of Bukayo Saka (£8.5m), Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£8.0m) all excelled in attack. Meanwhile Ben White (£5.5m), William Saliba (£5.0m) and Gabriel (£5.0m) all offered great value in defence. They continue to look like great assets for the new campaign. Read more here.
Aston Villa
Unai Emery has been strengthening his Aston Villa side ahead of the new season. Under the manager last season Villa were really successful at both ends of the pitch. Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) has unsurprisingly had a price rise for the new season. But there are also some great value picks to be had from the midlands team, especially with the likes of Tyrone Mings (£4.5m) and Pau Torres (£4.5m) in defence. Moussa Diaby (£6.5m) and Douglas Luis (£5.5m) could also be the perfect options in the fifth midfielder spots. Read more here.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth’s 22/23 campaign was a rollercoaster with changes in managerial styles impacting their play. The south coast team offer great value for FPL managers with players like Dominic Solanke (£6.5m) able to fill that playing budget forward position. New signings Justin Kluivert (£5.0m) and Milos Kerkez (£4.5m) could be ones to watch for FPL managers if they get regular minutes. Read more here.
Brentford
With Ivan Toney (£8.0m) suspended until 2024 managers will need to look elsewhere in the Brentford team. Bryan Mbeumo (£6.5m) has been the most popular pick amoungst FPL managers so far. However, Yoane Wise (£6.0m) also seems to offer great potential as a third forward for managers. With David Raya (£5.0m) looking increasingly likely to leave Brentford, new signing Mark Fleckken (£4.5m) could be a good investment as a £4.5m goalkeeper. Read more here.
Brighton
When new manager De Zerbi arrived at the club Brighton’s appeal as FPL assets grew. Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m), Pascal Gross (£6.5m), Solly March (£6.5m) and Pervis Estupinan (£5.5m) all offered great value for money. As such the Brighton assets have increased in price for the new season. Julio Enciso (£5.5m) has also had a positional move. He was a forward in the 22/23 season and is a midfielder for the 23/24 campaign. Read more here.
Burnley
Burnley are back in the Premier League and therefore back in FPL. Historically they were good defensive investments for FPL managers. With 21 clean sheets in the Championship last season that still looks likely. Managers will be especially interested in the likes of Connor Roberts (£4.5m) and Jordan Beyer (£4.0m). Read more here.
Chelsea
Chelsea offer the element of the unknown to FPL managers. Their assets are cheap in FPL on the back of a disappointing season in 22/23. However, under new manager Mauricio Pochettino they could be very attractive options. Knowing who will be regular starters under Poch will be key, as well as seeing who has form in pre-season. Read more here.
Crystal Palace
With Roy Hodgson confirmed to be staying as Crystal Palace manager for the 23/24 season managers will pay greater attention to their stats at the back end of last season. Eberechi Eze (£6.5m) started every game under Hodgson last season and displayed outstanding form. He will likely be one of the key Palace assets for the new season. Read more here.
Everton
The Toffee’s had a difficult campaign in 22/23 which culminated in the sacking of Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche taking charge. Everton survived on the final day of the season and will be looking to improve dramatically on last season. Dyche’s teams have traditionally been solid defensively and so many managers may look towards the likes of Jordan Pickford (£4.5m) and James Tarkowski (£4.5m). However, at just £6.0m if Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) can stay fit he could be a great option. Read more here.
Fulham
Fulham had a great season during 22/23 with Andreas Periera (£5.5m) an absolute steal in midfield. He, like Aleksander Mitrovic (£7.5m) have take a price rise for the new season. However Mitrovic’s lack of involvement in pre-season as well as his open desire to leave the club has meant FPL managers have stayed clear of the forward. Defensively they also offered managers some good cheap enablers last season. That could be the same again for 23/24. Read more here.
Liverpool
The Reds finished the 22/23 strong, ensuring a Europa Conference League place for for the 23/24 campaign. Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s (£8.0m) more advanced position has made him a top priority for many FPL managers. Likewise teammate Mo Salah (£12.5m) was the third highest scoring player in FPL last season. He will be a top pick for managers who can balance their FPL budgets. Read more here.
Luton
Premier League new boys Luton have already had a match postponed. Luton’s Gameweek 2 match against Burnley has been postponed as they could not guarantee that the stadium would be ready to host the fixture. This may put some FPL managers off investing. The Luton defence was solid in the Championship and at £4.0m Amari’i Bell (£4.0m) will likely be a popular choice. Callum Morris (£5.5m) was the Championships top scorer last time out and therefore could be a great budget enabler. Read more here.
Man City
Last seasons champion’s will always be popular picks for FPL managers. Despite his price tag Erling Haaland (£14.0m) still looks set to be the most popular pick in the game. However, there is much debate about how to invest in Man City outside of the Norwegian. Read more here.
Man United
Man United announced that Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) will be the new captain for the 23/24 season. This alongside his price drop from last season will likely increase his attractiveness to FPL managers. Alongside him FPL darling from 22/23 Marcus Rashford (£9.0m) as well as assets like Luke Shaw (£5.5m) will be popular picks for managers. New signing Andre Onana (£5.0m) is also proving popular with FPL managers, over 21% of managers have added him to their squads. Read more here.
Newcastle
Newcastle achieved their top four finish last season and will now play Champions League football in the 23/24 season. Kieran Trippier (£6.5m) has risen in price to £6.5m for the new season, a whole £2.0m more than team-mate Sven Botman (£4.5m). There will likely be a lot of debate about who is the better defensive pick as a £2.0m funds a lot across the rest of a 15 man squad this season. Callum Wilson (£8.0m) is also priced at £0.5m more than team-mate Alexander Isak (£7.5m) is he worth the extra cost? Read more here.
Nottingham Forest
Brennan Johnson‘s (£6.0m) reclasssfication from a forward to a midfielder has peaked the interest of FPL managers. Alongside Johnson, Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.0m) also looks a highly attractive pick, despite Nottingham Forest’s difficult fixtures to start the new season. The midfielder returned 145 points last season, registering 12 assists. Only three players assisted more goals than Gibbs-White and his 17 attacking returns was the same as Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m). Read more here.
Sheffield United
Sheffield United are back in the Premier League. Last time they gave us Lord Lundstrum and FPL managers will be looking for a similar budget enabler this time. At just £4.0m George Baldock (£4.0m) is currently the most popular Sheffield United asset in FPL. Read more here.
Spurs
Spurs are another team who have a new manager heading in to the 23/24 campaign. In their pre-season matches we have already seen high speed attacking football from Postecoglou’s Spurs. This will improve the appeal of the attacking assets from the Lily Whites this summer. Harry Kane (£12.5m) is as always linked with moves away from the club. If he stays he will be a popular pick for those who can budget for an extra premium. Son Heung-Min (£9.0m) and James Maddison (£7.5m) should also be on the radar of FPL managers. Read more here.
West Ham
Europa Conference League winners West Ham will be going in to the new season without captain Declan Rice (£5.5m). Rice made his move to Arsenal this summer. However, players like Jarrod Bowen (£7.0m) have been on fire in pre-season. With some great budget friendly options West Ham assets could be key to unlocking the premiums and making the £100.0m FPL budget work. Read more here.
Wolves
Wolves players were lowly owned in FPL last season. They didn’t score many goals and even the regular clean sheets managers had grown to expect seemed to dry up. Heading in to the new campaign only four Wolves players are owned by more than 1% of managers. Therefore if they find form they will be real differentials in the game. Read more here.
