GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 42

Last modified date

We go through the GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 42 using stats, form and fixture ahead. After a midweek round in Gameweek 41, we look ahead to the new round. Gameweek 42 starts on the 14th of April. This means managers have a short time to get their teams ready.

Going through the GAFFR top picks for Gameweek 42 can be hugely beneficial. As fantasy managers, we are always looking for players who could do really well in the next round. For that reason, picking out some of the best assets for the Gameweek ahead can be crucial when chasing down the competition.

Burnley

Burnley are steam rolling the Championship, claiming early automatic promotion already. It doesn’t look like their stopping there either as they look to break more records whilst also taking the title. In their last 10 league matches Burnley have managed to rack up six wins and four draws remaining unbeaten.

In the same 10-match period Burnley have also scored 17 goals, averaging 1.7 score per game whilst keeping six clean sheets. Investing in the Burnley attack and defence continues to prove successful for managers.

They face Reading this week who have lost six of their last 10 games, drawing three and claiming just one win. During that period the now managerless Reading also shipped 16 goals, averaging 1.6 goals conceded per game.

Reading are a team to target and who better to target them with other than the Burnley assets. The standout defensive asset is Ian Maatsen (£6.3m) who has accumulated four goals and six assists already this campaign. Other options include opposite full-back Conor Roberts (£6.7m) and goalkeeper Arijanet Muric (£6.1m).

In attack the standout option is Nathan Tella (£7.5m). The midfielder is his teams highest scoring GAFFR player so far scoring 17 goals and mustering up five assists. Another good option could be Anass Zaroury (£7.2m) who has returned seven goals and four assists so far this campaign.

The Coventry attack

Coventry sit at a respectable 10th in the Championship. They will be looking to get their play-off hopes back on track after a series of four draws from their last six league games. Coventry goals look inevitable in the next round.

QPR lay ahead for Coventry who are in dire form. In fact in their last 10 matches they have lost a whopping eight times. Amongst those 10 games QPR have conceded a huge 24 goals, averaging 2.4 goals conceded per game and highlighting them as the team to target in the Championship.

The main man and most obvious option in the frontline is Viktor Gyökeres (£8.5m). The Swedish international sits as the highest scoring player in GAFFR with 273 points. His points consist of 18 goals and nine assists, accumulating to 27 goal contributions in 41 matches. Not only is Viktor an absolute essential this week but he is also the standout captaincy option.

For those looking to take advantage of QPR’s defensive woes, another way into the Coventry attack is Matt Godden (£6.2m). The striker has also had a very solid campaign scoring seven goals and producing three assists.

Luton

Luton have surprised everyone this season. Sitting third in the Championship and just five points off automatic promotion seemed like an unrealistic position to be in at the start of the season. However, Luton have proved they are worthy of where they are.

In their last 10 matches Luton have won six, drawn three and lost just once. During that period they also scored 12 goals and kept six clean sheets. They face an inconsistent Rotherham in Gameweek 42 which could mean plenty of potential for the Luton assets.

Luton play with a back-three system which allows their wing-backs into some of the most advanced areas of the pitch, increasing their likeliness of attacking returns. One of those wing-backs include Alfie Doughty (£5.1m) who has collected a goal, assist and five clean sheets in his last eight matches. Some managers could select Cody Drameh (£5.6m) who has created two assists in his last five league games.

In attack the standout option is Carlton Morris (£7.4m). The striker has managed a strong 17 goals and six assists this season, totalling to 23 attacking returns in 40 games. Fellow striker Elijah Adebayo (£7.5m) is also a good option. The 25-year-old has been below par this campaign so far but has still picked up seven goals and three assists this season.
