Who passed the eye test in Gameweek 27?
We take a look at who passed the eye test Gameweek 27. With a focus on the matches played so far, we highlight some of the standout performances of the current round, whether they returned in Fantasy Premier League or not.
Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, looking at who passed the eye test in Gameweek 27 could be a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams moving forward.
Ben Chilwell
Chelsea continued their great form with a third successive win in Gameweek 27. The Blues came up against a struggling Leicester and finished the game with a 3-1 victory. Chelsea’s wing-back system helped highlight some of their players quality this week.
One of the few to standout was left wing-back Ben Chilwell (£5.8m). Facing his former club Chilwell was brilliant defensively and offensively. He was always looking to get forward and create chances. His overall performance was reflected in his end product. Chilwell managed to score and pick up a well earnt eight-point return in FPL.
Kaoru Mitoma
It was a tough game for Brighton in Gameweek 27. They faced a struggling Leeds team and were expected to win and win well. That wasn’t to be as the game finished 2-2. Although that was the case the game wasn’t short of quality.
One of the Brighton attackers to pass the eye test this week was Kaoru Mitoma (£5.5m). The Japanese midfielder was electric during the game and created huge problems for the Leeds backline. Quick and always looking to take on his man, Mitoma looked dangerous in terms of creativity and goal threat. The Brighton man created an assist and picked up six points in FPL, but it could and should have been more.
Heung-min Son
Tottenham have shown plenty of inconsistencies in terms of results as of late. They came into Gameweek 27 looking to bounce back after their disappointing Champions League exit mid-week. Tottenham turned up and cruised to a 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest.
Whilst many will look to the performance of Harry Kane, one player who really stole the show was Heung-min Son (£11.6m). The midfielder was excellent through the entire game. Although this season has been nothing like his last, he showed flickers of that season. Son was unbelievable, mustering five key passes leading to shots and scoring a goal. His performance led to a nine-point return in FPL.
Jack Grealish
Manchester City really struggled to break their opponents down this week. In fact, it took a late penalty to secure a 1-0 win against a strong Crystal Palace defence. Crystal nullified the league chasers for the majority of the game but one player did stand out.
Although he has failed to maintain a solid FPL output Jack Grealish (£6.8m) has been vital for Manchester City this season. He showed exactly that in his performance this week. Grealish was Manchester City’s best player on the pitch offensively. Whilst keeping possession deep in the final third, Grealish maintained attacks on a regular basis creating two key passes. Unfortunately, once again, Grealish failed to convert his performance into FPL points.
