Should we triple captain Rashford in Gameweek 22

We take a look at using the triple captain on Rashford in Gameweek 22. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area, we can utilise its fantastic tools to see if it is worth using our triple captain chip in the Gameweek ahead.

Many managers within the community will be deliberating the use of their triple captain on Rashford in Gameweek 22. Considering form, fixtures and stats we can conclude if activating the triple captain chip this week has potential.

Manchester United

Manchester United are in fine form in the lead up to their double Gameweek against Crystal Palace and Leeds. In fact, in the last 10 matches the Reds have won a huge eight matches, drawing one and losing one. In the same period they have also netted three goals in six games.

Amongst all teams in the league in the last six matches, Manchester United rank joint second for goals scored, joint first for goals scored in the box, third for attempts on goal, second for big chances total and first for shots on target. This reinforces their great offensive potential.

Marcus Rashford

One of the biggest contributors towards Manchester United’s goals is Marcus Rashford (£7.2m). The midfielder has been in fantastic form this season scoring nine goals and creating three assists. That top form is only highlighted when considering that nine goals and two assists came in his last 10 matches in all competitions.

His recent output is great but his stats are even more convincing. Amongst all midfielders in the last six matches, Rashford ranks first for goals scored, second for attempts on goal, joint first for attempts in the box and first for big chances total.

The opponents – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are one of Manchester United’s opponents in Gameweek 22. In their last 10 matches, they have lost five, drawn three and won two, reflecting a poor run of form. In that same period they have also kept just three clean sheets.

Things have been tough for Crystal Palace defensively, especially in the last six matches. Amongst all teams they rank the worst for shots conceded in the box, the worst for total shots conceded and the joint worst for shots on target conceded. This bodes well for Marcus Rashford and his impressive stats.

Leeds

Leeds have also been struggling to maintain a good run of form. In their last 10 matches they have lost four, drawn four and won two. They also kept just two clean sheets in the same period, indicating their defence is there to attack.

Defensively, in the last six matches amongst all teams Leeds rank the joint third worst for goals conceded, the second worst for shots in the box conceded and the worst for big chances total. This gives Rashford even more potential for the Gameweek ahead.

Are there other opportunities to use the Triple captain chip?

There are likely double Gameweeks in Gameweek 29, Gameweek 34 and Gameweek 37. However, the fixtures are unknown and considering that they could be medium to large double Gameweeks, other chips could be more suitable to use.

Manchester City have a double Gameweek in Gameweek 23 so many will look to utilise their triple captaincy chip on striker Erling Haaland (£12.2m). However with Aston Villa’s recent strengthening and Arsenal’s solid and sustained defensive stats, the potential is questionable.

Should we triple captain Rashford in Gameweek 22?

Rashford is in fantastic form, sustaining some brilliant attacking stats and faces two defensively struggling opponents. For that reason and taking into account other factors like other opportunities ahead, Gameweek 22 could be the last best chance to utilise the triple captaincy chip.
