FPL Gameweek 13 Review

Gameweek 13 brought a rare red arrow, but luckily it was only a small one. This was a typical low scoring midweek round of games, as I finished one point above the average. It’s now time to push on with the Best FPL Team GW14.

Kevin De Bruyne blanked as our captain, but did deliver a fortunate pair of bonus points. Mo Salah and Patrick Bamford got on the scoresheet, with assists for Calvert-Lewin and Chilwell. There were no clean sheets.

Best FPL Team GW14

With two free transfers available, and just two weeks until the wildcard, it’s time to make tweaks in defence for optimal points over the next two games. The long-term plan is to use the first wildcard at the latest possible point in Gameweek 16, then Free Hit in Blank Gameweek 18 and Bench Boost in Double Gameweek 19.

Pascal Struijk, the fifth defender, is the clear weak link in the squad and there are funds in the bank to upgrade him. Lewis Dunk would be the obvious replacement, with a great fixture against Sheffield United this weekend. That would mean Kyle Walker-Peters and James Justin are retained but drop to the bench: I don’t want to transfer out either of these players as I have value in them and may want to keep them on my Gameweek 16 wildcard. Captain options in Gameweek 14 FPL land with Bruno Fernandes or Mohammed Salah. Both have the form and a favourable fixture: the fact that Liverpool have a week long break after this game minimises rotation worries and so that’s enough to give Mo Salah the armband. At the time of writing, the Gameweek 14 FPL team is ranked at 691,598 with 758 points. All chips are available. Team value lies at £101.9 million, with £0.2 million in the bank.
