8 Tips for FPL Gameweek 30

If you’re looking for immediate ways to boost your Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ranking and beat mini-league rivals, we’re here with some Gameweek 30 tips.

Millions of managers currently have the same dilemma, with so much to consider before Tuesday 1 April’s 18:15 BST deadline.

Yet this advice has the potential to improve your FPL season drastically.

FPL GAMEWEEK 30 TIPS

Wildcard ideally waits until Gameweek 31

With two and a half weeks to think between deadlines, some will have decided to tinker around with a Wildcard activation. It’s tempting, for sure, but we won’t necessarily have the full FPL picture by April’s first day.

FA Cup results mean we’ll know all about Blank Gameweek 34 but the tight turnaround between those and Gameweek 30 might not be enough time for clubs to confirm that rearranged fixtures will go into Double Gameweek 33. Wait slightly longer and a chip strategy can be finalised.

Make decisions after FA Cup weekend

Chips or otherwise, there are seven Premier League teams taking part in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Both that and the international break could bring crucial player injuries, so making earlier transfers could quickly backfire.

….like what to do about Palmer

Already in bad form, Chelsea’s highly-selected Cole Palmer (£10.8m) missed the Arsenal defeat because of a muscle injury. Additionally, he’s not on England duty.

Reports say there will be a second scan but club officials “hope” that he’ll make Gameweek 30. However, we may not hear an update from Enzo Maresca before Tuesday’s FPL deadline, as the Blues don’t play until Thursday.

Should he make way for Haaland?

That’d make a sale to accommodate Erling Haaland (£14.8m) less straightforward. To buy such a hugely expensive asset, at least one big name has to be sacrificed elsewhere and an injured Palmer will be a start.

Many bought Haaland for Blank Gameweek 29, as he scored his eighth goal in 10 league games.

Captain Haaland or Salah?

Not only that, Man City have a nice-looking fixture run that begins at home to 19th-placed Leicester. The Foxes have lost 13 of their last 14.

This has big-score potential, though Mohamed Salah‘s (£13.7m) effective ownership (EO) should still be well over 100% for Liverpool’s Merseyside derby.

Five double-digit hauls in seven matches have already ensured that Salah has broken the all-time record for FPL season points. And that was in early March! Even so, the Egyptian was anonymous in the EFL Cup final defeat.

How is Trent doing?

Absent at Wembley that day was Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m), due to an ankle injury picked up days earlier versus Paris Saint-Germain. It sounds like he’s unlikely to make Gameweek 30 and it could even be late April until he makes his return, making the defender an easy sell.

Fernandes has tough fixtures

Meanwhile, the most-bought player for Gameweek 29 also ended as its top scorer. That’s why Bruno Fernandes (£8.6m) leads the purchase list again, grabbing three goals and four assists in just four matches.

It’s hard to resist such numbers but be aware that 13th-placed Man United next face Nottingham Forest, Man City and Newcastle – all sit inside the top six. Perhaps his form has already peaked.

Whereas Newcastle and Palace soon Double

Fresh from ending football’s most famous trophy drought, the victorious Newcastle United will hope to use this momentum to secure a Champions League place for next season.

Last Sunday’s final caused their clash with Crystal Palace to be moved into Gameweek 32, forming a double for both. Furthermore, the Magpies get to meet Brentford and Leicester beforehand, while the Eagles face Southampton and Brighton.

Gameweek 30 transfers should be focused on these teams. Names like Alexander Isak (£9.3m), Jacob Murphy (£5.0m), Daniel Munoz (£5.1m) and a possibly recovered Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.5m).
